Janice and Mr. Wasserman. My father and my dinners with Dorothy were the highlight of every day for my dad and myself. Mrs. Wasserman and my dad would talk to each other in Yiddish, in what sometimes felt like the Yiddish version of Abbott and Costello's Who's on First routine, with both of them, frequently crying out "Vos?" when struggling to hear and understand what the other was saying in Yiddish. No matter how many "vos" it took each persisted until they understood each other. You couldn't ask for a better dinner, and otherwise companion than Mrs. Wasserman--she had wit, warmth, charm. a loving soul and it was a joy for me to talk with her in between the vos about her family whom she adored and about the similar past she and my father has shared in their youth --the strolls along College Street when she was dating Mr. Wasseman, the dates involving drinking tea with cubes of sugar in the College St equivalent of Starbucks. She will be missed very much, and I am grateful for having her in my and my father's life for the time we did.

Dear Uncle Al, Ian and Janice... We were so sorry to hear the news of Auntie Dorothy's passing.. my kids loved visiting her..she was the grandmother they never knew... .Batya was crying.. she is going to have her class learn Torah today in Great-Auntie Dorothy's merit. I can tell you that her name was the first name on my lips in prayer 3 times a day, every day, for over a decade, and it was so strange and it pained me not to say her name this morning in my davening. I not only loved Auntie Dorothy a lot, but I respected a strong character trait of hers... to me she was sharp and focussed and always on top of things... perceiving every detail and not afraid to express herself. Interestingly, as I think about it, she is one of the few people I have known that I NEVER argued or disagreed with. wow. I pray that her neshama should be elevated to the greatest heights, that she was welcomed today in shamayim, surrounded by love, by her beloved parents, sisters, brother-in-law, sweet granddaughter and friends. May she now watch over her family; may her memory be a blessing for all who knew her and loved her. I guess my mom and Auntie Jeannie will let her know if there is Mahj in Heaven.

Dear Al, Ian and Janice Though the years at Tavistock Road are long removed, I can still see Dorothy sitting out front with my mother and laughing as she always did. When we reconnected two years ago at Amica and I introduced Dorothy and Al to my father-in-law, Dorothy took great glee at telling him how she changed my diapers! I was so happy we were able to visit a while back. Dorothy along with Lorraine became surrogate mothers to me after my mom passed away. She will be missed!

So sad when I got the news of Dorothy's passing. I always loved her passion for her grandchildren and the love I always saw with her dear mate for so many years - Al. You two took care of one another and the love was so apparent. At the funeral I found out so much more about Dorothy that I didn't know from Janice, Shawn and Heather. A real testament when the grandchildren - Shawn and Heather enjoyed time with Bubbie and Zaidie. Thank you Al for being the wonderful person that you are not only to your beloved Dorothy but to anyone who knows you. My mom was sad that she could not be at the funeral and sad for loosing one of her closest friends.............RIP Dorothy...you will always be remembered and loved!

Uncle Albie, Janice & Ian - Auntie Dorothy was a special part of my childhood. She took me in, fed me dinners and let me share Hope's bed (That boxer pushed me off the bed every time!). She made a great difference and a warm memory in a lonely little girls' life. Her generosity of spirit helped me feel secure. She will continue to be a part of my soul and always always in my heart. Al, Janice,Ian, grandchildren and great grandchildren. What can I say about someoe as,special as that woman was. She was bright always on the ball, caring, loved life and lived it to the fullest. We had some great times together, maj, bowling, lunches at steeles deli. They even named a salad after her. My thoughts are with the family. I'm so sorry I couldn't be with you at this time. I will never forget my wonderful friend Dorothy. Be strong Al. You were the best husband , if anyone knows, I do. For all of you ,be well and try to remember all the wonderful memories. R.I.P. Dearest Uncle Al, Janice, Ian, Shawn and Heather, I am so deeply and truly sorry for your loss. How do I even begin to discuss such an immeasurably special woman? Smart as a whip, stubborn as anything, and wholeheartedly hilarious. She certainly knew how to have fun, and brought countless smiles to people's faces. I've always loved hearing her stories and have had many conversations with her that I'll truly never forget. With a broken heart, I can still hear her voice so clearly in my mind. She touched many lives in the unique way only she could. She will be so greatly missed. I hope wherever she is, she is reunited with my bubbie and auntie Frieda - and I can only imagine what they're up to. I pray you take comfort in the many cherished memories you have with her.
