It is with great sadness and our deepest regrets that we announce the passing of the late Dwora Pilc née Bigel on June 1, 2023 after a heroic battle with cancer. Dwora is survived by her beloved husband Itzhak Pilc. Together they shared 67 years of married life, three children, and six grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her children Jackey (Lorne), Miriam (Rick), and Zev (Alyssa), as well as her cherished grandchildren Adina, Maya, Shira, Noah, and Tevy (Faigy), and Shayna (Arie). Dear sister to the late Moishe Bigel and survived by her sister Bronia Zimner.

Born on July 13, 1937 in Zamosc, Poland, Dwora spent the war years in Uzbekistan while her father worked as a tailor for the Red Army. Dwora and her family immigrated to Israel in 1949 and in 1955 Dwora married Itzhak and they began their life together on Dwora’s beloved Dizengoff. In 1961, the family made their way to Toronto, Canada where Dwora enjoyed the rest of her life surrounded by her friends and family.

A fixture at Beth Tikvah Synagogue along with her husband Itzhak, they were one of the shul’s original families. Beth Tikvah became the centre of the life Dwora and her family built in Toronto. She will be greatly missed by her entire community.
