Our beautiful and vivacious mother took her last breath peacefully on Saturday May 21 at 6:04pm at Princess Margaret Hospital. She put up an unfathomable and courageous fight for 11 days after an unexpected diagnosis of a very aggressive myeloid leukemia.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Phillip Starkman of 57 years. In addition to her husband, Phil she was the beloved and dedicated mother and mother in law of Heather and Michael Wagman, Brenda Borenstein and Richard Ambrose and Aaron and Beth Starkman. She was also the adoring, fabulous fun loving Bubbie of Joshua and Aubrey Borenstein, Max, Jared and Shale Wagman and Jake, Ben and Ashley Starkman, and Aaron, Estee and Bayla Ambrose.
Eleanor was the only child born to Max and Gertrude (Gertie) Gandelman on July 24, 1943.

Whether you called her Eleanor, El, Ellie, Mom or Bubbie this incredible woman had the biggest zest for life. And she lived an amazing one. You couldn’t miss her unmistakable laugh and amazing personality. She was a character In the best way possible with the greatest sense of humour and we all loved her for it and wanted to be around her. She was full of energy, bubbly and younger than her years. There are a million stories about Eleanor that will live on and continue to make us smile and think back to what she brought to us all. There was no one like her. She will be missed. But never ever forgotten.
