Eli David Rosenzweig sadly passed away on January 11th, 2020/14th of Tevet at Toronto Western Hospital after facing Cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Eli was the devoted and adored father of Jonah and Danielle, cherished son of Sara and the late Sam (Shmuel) Rosenzweig and brother to Vitti Rosenzweig Kones.

Eli was a dedicated friend to many: modest, genuine and always creative; a unique individual.

The funeral will take place at Steele’s Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Avenue West on Monday, January 13th, 2020 at 1 p.m. in the chapel.

Interment at Bathurst Lawn Cery, 6033 Bathurst Street Hebrew Friendly Sons of David section.

Shiva at 8 Tokay Court. Daily Shacharit/morning service at 7:30 a.m.

Mincha/maariv/ afternoon and evening service at 4:30 p.m.

Shiva visits 8:00 a.m. to 2p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Saturday night from 7:00 p.m.to 10:00 p.m.

I want to pass on my condolences to Eli's direct family, I was informed and saddened of news late last night of Eli's passing and remember him as a great-great trusted friend and confidant. He was also competitive-but in a good way. I can remember, we only had good times together and it was always in his nature to look at the bright side of life, no matter what the circumstances were and I understand now even in his death, as a close friend, he would have wanted no tears just laughs. I understand that this was sudden for most and hope we can look to each other for strength in this difficult time.

My most heartfelt sadness & emptiness to learn of Eli's passing. I have very fond memories of Eli and his genuine friendship I appreciated as school chums at W.L. Mackenzie C.I. in the 'Manor.' May the family feel Ha'Shem's comforting Spirit during a very difficult time of loss and beyond. My only regret with Eli is that we lost touch after our wonderful acquaintance during those years. Eli and I were close friends in the early 1990’s before we both had children. He was a free spirit, very well-rounded, adventurous and interesting. I remember cross-country skiing with him in the Moore Park ravine and attending numerous foreign films together. He and I compared our ski trips all over the world - Aspen was definitely his favourite and ended up being mine as well. On the other hand, he derived great pleasure from participating in local community theatre. I will never forget his lively 40th birthday celebration in December, 1995, at a friend’s farm attended by an eclectic and friendly group of friends - while I was 9 months pregnant I wouldn’t have missed it for the world! So I will always treasure the memories I have of the time we spent together.

I was very sad to hear about Eli's passing. I am not really even sure how I knew him. I only know that I knew him from the time that I was a young teen. When we lose our peers, we lose part of ourselves. My condolences to his family.

i heard about eli's death a few days ago. i was a close friend of his in high school. he was a sensitive and caring person with a unique artistic talent. i want to express my sorrow to his family at hearing of his passing away. although i lost touch with him later on in life i will always remember him with affection.
