Sam, Brooke, Rachel, Annette, Faye, and the entire Hollander Families, I am heartbroken writing this message. Mervin was an exceptional human and I feel fortunate to have been a part of his life for the past 10 years. His smile, his attitude and loyalty was incredible, everyone who knew him loved him! He loved breaking bread and cooking and barbecuing for those he loved. He loved his job and those he worked with. He loved to be needed and to help anyone in need. His generosity knew no bounds. There are no words to express my sadness that can truly comfort anyone. Mervin was a remarkable person, and I am grateful for the time I had with him. Wishing you all strength and comfort during this difficult time and the days ahead. Mervin, Emanuel, As I used to call you affectionately: Manny, I will miss you, and remember the times we shared fondly. I will forever be thankful that I had the opportunity to know you, and when I make “Mervin’s famous sangria”, think of a joke you told me, or one of your many sayings I will laugh and smile. I promise to take care of all your girls and fur children, and most importantly to teach Ava “Mervineeze”. You will forever be in my heart.

Missing someone means you're lucky and had that person in your life worth missing. They will forever be with you as they were a part of you. It's not a place to stay and is not a sign of weakness or lack of faith. It is indeed the price of love. Cry, as each tear is a drop of love in every memory that is testament to your bond. May Merv be seated among the Angels and have an Aaliyah in heaven, and may he know peace. If memory serves; Merv and I first met at Camp about 9 years old, only a couple of months apart and we managed to stay friends such a very long time. A true mensch, Kind, generous, loving. One of the hardest working people I've ever known. And that goes for his zest for life and partying as well. I am definitely gonna miss my long time and dear friend, Merv.

Our deepest condolences go out to the entire family. I went to school with Merv and met him again years and years later when we ended up on the same plane ride to Amsterdam. He had a way about him that made you feel that the years between the last time we hung out, were like yesterday. He was a forever friend and had a fabulous smile and gave the best hugs. Although I haven’t seen Mervin in many years we did keep in touch on social media. He was always so much fun. He was an important part of my teenage years which I will never forget. I was so sad to hear of Mervin’s passing. I will always remember the good times. RIP Merv.

I just found out about Merv's death. I was absolutely shocked. I remember Merv from our B'nai Brith days over 45 years ago. He was a member of the Exodus Chapter. His Chapter and mine (Danai) would always get together for parties and mostly hung out at the B'nai Brith house (which was our 2nd home). May his memory bring you solace. My sincere condolences to the family.

I haven't seen Merv in years but he will always have a place in my heart. Great memories of meeting up at The Mad Ave Pub back in the days and a wonderful ski trip to Banff with pals back in the late 80's. He was always happy and fun to be around. He introduced me to a "BnB" at The Madison Pub and I will always think of him when that drink comes up. We lost touch after I moved to Grand Cayman (my fault) but I will never forget our great times of yesteryear. May you RIP, Merv and let your memories live on forever !!

I met Merv about two years ago. I was looking to rent a “studio” to start painting. When I saw 28 Industrial it looked like it was out of “central casting”. Initially I spoke with Merv on the phone. “Spoke” being the operative word. I really wasn’t sure what he said but I got enough to be excited about maybe getting a place there. We went back and forth for a while and then he found me a fantastic place on the second floor. Each time I met with Merv I liked him more. Kind, funny, warm and full of great stories. He was a legend in my mind. Here he encouraged the likes of me and others to pursue their dreams whatever they might be. Fair, honest, ethical. That was Merv. Clearly loved by his friends, his employees and most importantly his family. I only recently learned of Merv’s passing as I was away. I’m heartbroken. Heartbroken because he was such a unique human being. To say I loved him would be an understatement. I will miss him and our friendship and our conversations forever and a day. My heart goes out to his family and friends. What a huge hole in our lives. Lastly I do feel lucky. Lucky to have known this dear man even through it was all to short. Thank you Merv for being you and gracing us with your presence.
