Peacefully at home on June 14, 2023 at the age of 97. Beloved wife of the late Abraham Bodenstein. Daughter of the late Benjamin and Shayna Rochel and sister of the late Chaim Mordechai, Dora, Bella, Boris and Chayna, all who perished in the Holocaust. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Susan and Ronny Solomon. Devoted grandmother of Carrie Altman (the light of her life) and step grandmother to Cory Solomon and Penny & Jon O’Connor and step great grandmother to Quinn and Morgan O’Connor.

Eva was a holocaust survivor and the only survivor of her family. She came to Montreal after being liberated, where she married Abraham and soon after had a daughter, Susan. She lost her husband 4 short years after their marriage and raised Susan on her own. Through her industrious and tenacious spirit, she always made sure that she was providing the best for her family, from piano lessons to summer camp. And new shoes always A new pair of shoes for every holiday. Through all her pain and grief she always maintained a positive attitude. Always available to help whoever needed help and more than happy to feed the masses. If you came to her home, you weren’t leaving until you had a piece of her babka, or some of her legendary cookies or hamentaschen and a cup of coffee. She will always be remembered as the feisty, loving, entrepreneurial woman she was.

The family would like to express the utmost of thanks and gratitude to her caregiver Donah Tupas, who for 14 years always treated her with love and dignity. Also to Adele for her care. She will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
