Eva Halpert passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. Beloved wife of Arthur (Z”L), loving and devoted mother and mother-in-law of Ivan (Z”L), George & Joanne Halpert, Sandi & Robert Kerenyi, cherished grandmother of Josette, Linnaea, Mikayla and Jaden, predeceased by her sister Judy and sister-in-law Marta.

Her kind loving nature and the twinkle in her eyes will be sadly missed by all her family, friends and caregivers.

Special thanks to her caregivers over the years, especially the devoted team at 147 Elder St.

A family graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 27. May her memory be a blessing.

It must be extremely difficult so soon after your Dad z'l. Eva was a truly amazing woman, and I had the good fortune to have her work with me on a Beth David project dear to her and my heart. Eva, You invited me into your home for holidays as a student at York and dinner out of the dorm was so much appreciated. I remember you as an incredibly devoted mom, nursing your oldest son when he was ill and taking care of the details such as peeling tomatoes for your soup because George and Sandy did not like the skin. You had a great sense of humour and even laughed when I did imitations of you, your beatiful bass voice and cute accent. I loved how when you laughed you made almost no sound and tears came to your eyes. Always elegant, always well dressed, you were a lady, and a passionate mom. You will be missed but I am certain that a mother's hug such as yours lasts long after you let go. May you suffer no more.

Enjoyed listening to stories of Eva's life during the Shiva. There is much to be learned by her ability to stick to her convictions in the face of the opinions of others, and persistence in fighting for what is right. The impact she had on her grandchildren is clear, and it is touching to know she will live on through the lessons and characteristics shared with them. My deepest condolences to the family during this time.
