EVA ROTHOLC (nee TUSZYNSKI). Our mother, Eva Rotholc, died in her 96th year on June 30, 2020. She was born in Brzeziny, Poland on February 15, 1924. Predeceased by beloved husband, Sam (Lazar) Rotholc (2010).  Eva is survived by her children, Beverley Gordon, Alec Roth, Rhonda Lichtenstein and Sandra Rotholc-King; by grandchildren Noah, Jared, Ariel, Ephrem, Reuben, and Riley; and great-grandchildren Kendal and Dylan.

Eva was a Holocaust survivor who was sent to Gruberg Camp, near the end of the war she escaped into the forest where she hid until the liberation.  Eva met her husband Sam Rotholc, an Auschwitz survivor, when returning to Lodz. They married, had their first daughter and then set off to make aliyah to Israel. Eva and Sam then immigrated to Canada to start a new life, expanded their family by three more children and built a successful women’s manufacturing company ( Roth-Stern) together on Spadina and Adelaide.  Eva was a voracious reader, a needle point fanatic and an accomplished apple cake maker!  She was a determined and stylish woman, who was loved by many.

She leaves a legacy of humour, an investment in education for her children and a reminder that  “the main thing is everybody is ok”.

Memorial donations in Eva’s name may be made to Yad Vashem  (yadvashem.ca/donation-page/)

Funeral service will be live-streamed. Please go to smclive.ca
