Florence (Fluffy) Rosenbloom

Peacefully on Feb.14th, 2021, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late Jerry Rosenbloom z’l. Devoted mother and mother-in-law of Andrea & Neil Elman and Marla & Lloyd Dubrovsky. Cherished Bubby of Zachary, Benjamin, & Matthew Elman, and Daniel & Amanda Dubrovsky. Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late Lenny Zelnicker z’l, the late Jack Zelnicker z’l, and Marvin & Lynda Rosenbloom. She will be sorely missed by her many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. Carol Muallim and Dr. Darren Kagal for their exceptional care and compassion over the years.

I remember meeting your mother for the first time when I was 10 or 11 years old at Lakewood. New to the campground, Fluffy walked up to me and a group of kids at the pool-with a very embarrassed Andrea in tow- to introduce us. Marla and Andrea, I wish you and the entire family joy and long life.

We became friends over 60 years ago at Macdonald College and even though I left Montreal in 1970 we were always in touch. Her arrival in Toronto was great for me as I was able to get together with her each time I went to visit my own children. Even though she seemed to have a hard life, she always smiled, chuckled and commented in her humorous way and it was always wonderful to be in her company. She was blessed with the most devoted children and sons-in-law and for this she was very grateful! As friends since our teenage years in Montreal, Fluffy and I kept in touch even after she left to move to Toronto, and even while she was ill these past few of months and years. She was great that way - always wanting to keep in contact with old friends. We would always get together in Toronto when I visited my family there. I still wonder at her math skills. She's the only person I know who could add up huge columns of 4 numbers from left to right, and not right to left as we were taught in school. She had a warmth and interest in others that was much appreciated. She will be greatly missed. May it also help you to know that others are thinking of you with deepest sympathy and heartfelt understanding. May you find comfort in knowing that others share in your sorrow.

Andrea and Marla and families, This sad news coming after a year of so much sad news was all the more heartbreaking. I first met Fluffy as the substitute teacher of our grade 2 class, and was later blessed with repeated interactions as I chased her daughter Andrea around school. Every subsequent encounter throughout adolescence and adulthood was met with the most refreshingly frank and poignant conversations, no matter the length. I also recall a brief interaction between her and my late father where he later proclaimed "That's a smart woman." That she was, and she will be missed. Condolences to the family for what is a tremendous loss. Our love and thoughts are sincerely with you.
