Dear Yittie, Gail, Elka and Masha I am so sorry to hear of Fraidel’s death. Though it has been many years since we saw each other as I moved away, I have the warmest memories of שבת afternoon at your house at 36 Lyonsgate, of carpooling in your grey station wagon, and of times at camp and school together. It was always fun to share the same last name and live on the same street and be thought of as family even though we were not related. I was delighted when Fraidel’s daughter was our daughter’s counselor at camp. I am so sorry for your loss. So sorry to hear of Fraidel's passing. I lived on Lyonsgate Drive a few houses away from the Starkman Family. I have many fond memories of Fraidel, Yittie and Sid. My sincere condolences to the family.

Baruch Dayan Ha'Emet - I am profoundly shocked and saddened by the news of Fraidel's passing. I first heard of Fraidel's illness just a few short weeks ago. I had known Fraidel since I was blessed with Masha's friendship when we were 12 years old, at Camp Massad. For 48 years Fraidel was part of the "package deal" of my friendship with Masha. I will always cherish my vivid memories of Fraidel becoming a mother to two beautiful daughters who grew up and became remarkable individuals. In 2008 Fraidel and I kindled a beautiful friendship. It was our moment and it was glorious. I'll never forget Fraidel's advice to me about getting "lowlights" when she realized I'd stopped colouring my hair - advice I never took, but to this day it's the advice I've given to countless others. We shared knitting patterns, we examined each other's knitting techniques. We shared photos of our projects, our recipes. I loved that precious time that we shared. Last night I looked through my Facebook feed and saw so many beautiful notes between us over the years. It was a privilege to have her in my life for those brief few years. A devoted daughter, mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. HaMakom yenachem et'chem b'toch shar avay'lay Tzion vee'Yerushalayim.

I remember our cousin Fraidel from many years ago. I believe that she worked at Shopper's Drug Store at York Mills and Bayview. I am the late Esther and Henry Bernick's daughter and Mom was a Starkman. May Fraidel rest in peace and know that we are thinking of your family and remember Yettie and Sid Starkman from years ago.
