Blau, Frances (Faigie), on Monday February 26, 2024 at North York General Hospital. Frances Blau, beloved wife of the late Howard Blau. Loving mother of Karen Blau (Robert Gilpin), Judy Blau (Scott Melnick), and Andrew Blau. Cherished grandmother of Rebecca (Robert), Max (Marfa), Bram, Julia, Joshua, and Jason. Beloved sister of Frieda Schaffel. She will be sadly missed by her daughter-by-choice Sandee Sharpe. Special thanks to the staff of NYGH for their care and compassion. There really are no words to describe our feelings . After over 45 years, in our hearts, Frances, and Howard, too. had become like part of our family, knowing our children and grandchildren, sharing in our Simchas, and just "being there" for us for all and every occasion. Our trips to theatre in Niagara, Stratford, and Port Hope, brisket dinners, book reviews, etc... we weren't prepared for this, and we are just beginning to accept what we should have known was inevitable. When I first met Frances, it was was at Aqua Fit classes at Palace Gate. We became firm friends. She had a caring nature and wanted to know me better. One of the best examples was when she asked " How was church today? What was the sermon about?" I missed Frances's friendship when I left North York to live in Toronto five years ago. She has a special place in my heart. God Bless you Frances.

I was assigned to be Francis’ PSW a few months ago and our relationship quickly developed into a genuine friendship. I visited her almost every day and I always looked forward to seeing her. Getting her into the middle of her king size bed was a struggle but we always managed to pull it off with a little laughter. She was a very kind, caring person and a great listener. She always had good advice for me and at times, it actually felt like she was the one taking care of me! I will truly miss our time together, it was often the highlight of my day.
