In loving memory of the glorious 93 years of Fran Kochberg. Devoted wife of 73 years to her adoring and cherished husband, Harold. Dearest daughter of the late Issie & Gertie Samet. Loving sister to the late Sam Samet. Devoted sister-in-law to Toby Samet and to the late Rita & Harry Dordick, Esther & Harry Goodman, Marvin & Esther Kochberg. Devoted mother and mother-in-law to Marshall & Resa Kochberg, Ian & Arlene Kochberg, David Kochberg & Linda Prussick. Beloved grandma/bubbie to Jaimie & Gavin Ziv, Kailee & Shawn Mecklinger, Toni & Jayme Frankfort, Ira & Michelle Kochberg, Eric & Yana Kochberg. Incredible great-grandma/bubbie to Emily, Brooke, Sophie, Dylan, Isabella, Corey, Nathan, Liam, Ellie, Kai, and Evie.

The absolute epitome of a “balabusta”, and the embodiment of the “Yiddishe Mama”, Fran was a committed wife, a caring mother, a loving bubbie/grandma and an unfailing friend. She always thought of, and cared for, others before herself. Her passing leaves a tremendous void that can never be filled.

I will always remember the daily calls I overheard growing up, about what they were each cooking for dinner or discussing their latest and greatest streusel or cookie recipe. Faige as I will always remember her was a part of our lives. Her special bond with my mom, Goldie went for above that of a cousin. Their multiple daily phone calls, visits, helping each other prepare for all of the holidays and especially Faige and Harold always visiting my grandfather are just a few of the things I will always remember. Heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved Fran. I know how she treasured her family and her amazing cooking prepared in advance just for all of you. Fran was totally and lovingly committed to Harold’s care. We reconnected when they moved into 2 Neptune and hosted Sheila Z’L, Phil, Judi and me to an incredible lunch. Fran would call me to say she just made her delicious apple cake and bring some to my apartment as well as say “save some for Phil”. We will truly miss her at 2 Neptune. To the Kochberg and Samet families...please accept my condolences on the passing of Fran. As already mentioned, I too have many fond memories of Fran and the family from my childhood. When my parents immigrated to Canada from England in 1956, Fran and Harold took them in like family. My parents lived in Issie and Gertie's house on Acton Ave. I was born in 1957. I remember vividly the Passover Seders held at Issie and Gertie's when they lived on Overbrook. And Fran was so warm and kind to me. I remember when I was a little boy, I had a stamp collection and was missing a certain stamp needed to complete my collection. Fran "magically" had that stamp in a closet in the basement of her house on Brighton, and gave it to me. Fran also gave me my very first pet. It was a black cocker spaniel poodle who I affectionately named Blackie. And the memories go on and on. May G-d bless her soul, and may she rest in eternal peace. May the many memories you have of her warm your heart. I have boxes full of photographs of Fran and Harold with family from the late '50's, 60's, and 70's.
