Silverman, Frances

(Nee Kitrick) January 17,1924 – February 3, 2021
Peacefully at Hillel Lodge, Ottawa, in her 97th year. Frances was the daughter of Esther Anne and Joseph Kitrick and mother of Rosalind (Henning) and Joe.Frances was a warm, gracious woman whose gentle wit delighted all who knew her. She was a woman of quiet strength that never flagged over the course of her long life. Her greatest and most immeasurable gift was allowing those she loved to be truly themselves.
Predeceased by her brother Sidney, her husband, James Silverman, to whom she was wed for 64 years and her son in law, Brian. Zipporah was a loving Saftah to her grandchildren, Brian, Will, Anna and Dvorah and five great grandchildren, all boys. Mum, a London girl, met Jimmy on the dance floor at Covent Garden while he was serving in the Canadian Air Force. She came to Ottawa in December of 1944 as a war bride. They moved  to Toronto with two young children in 1948 where  Mum went on to become a credit manager in the accounting department at Mount Sinai Hospital. In 1967 they made Aliyah to Israel, where they settled on a Moshav and grew oranges for 40 years. After her husband died, she returned to Ottawa in 2009 and enjoyed living on her own before residing at Hillel Lodge for the past five years. We are truly grateful for the care that she received there. She will be buried beside her mother in the Lambton Cemetery, Toronto.
A live stream of her graveside funeral may be viewed on Friday, February 5th at 1:00PM by going to the Steeles Memorial Chapel Website.
