Frank Halpern passed away at age 92, on Tuesday, January 30, after a brief battle against the COVID virus. He will be remembered with love by his wife of more than 55 years, Carolan, and his children, Jeffrey, George and his partner Jaime Kawamoto as well as his sister-in-law Christine.

Memorial donations to Kerry’s Place Autism Services (https://www.kerrysplace.org/) or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Memorial Service Location: Steeles Memorial Chapel Service

Burial Service Location: Dawes Road Cemetery (Old McCaul Section) - 3169 St. Clair Ave. E., Scarborough, M1L 1V5

Shiva Details: Family and friends are invited back to the residence following the burial. Shiva will continue on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday - Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

He had a wonderful way of grasping the essence of any topic of conversation and adding a simple and often witty observation. My condolences to my good friend Carolan and her family on the passing of their beloved Frank. Carolan and I became friends during the years we worked together at the Canadian Jewish News. Although superficially we had little else in common, I was happy when our friendship continued when we were no longer colleagues at the paper. During 20 years of friendship, I felt I got to know her husband Frank and their sons, George and Jeffrey, through the stories she told me about them. I’m sorry for their loss of a kind and easygoing husband and dad.
