It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George Zafir on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 , at Amica Thornhill.
Beloved husband of Judy Zafir. Devoted father and father-in-law
of Shirley Zafir-Eknovitz, and Paul Eknovitz, Michelle Zafir-Blustein,
and Rob Bluestein, Dorothy Zafir and Yaniv Hayun. Cherished Papa to Nathan and Maya Eknovitz and Yoav Hayun. Special thanks to all of George’s caregivers , the wonderful staff at Amica and Dr.Habbib with exceptional care.. George’s warm smile, baby blue eyes and charming personality will be missed in the hallways of Amica.

Dear Judy, Shirley, Dorthy and Michielle and family we are so sorry on the loss of your husband, father and grandfather. I had the pleasure of first working with George and seeing it grow into a friendship. My kids will always remember George offering to allow my boys to take pictures with his car collection. May you know of no more sorrow. He will be the shining light beaming down on you.

My wife Fia, My son Enrico and myself , living in Tel Aviv, are sending our love and condolences to George’s family and friends. When I lost my father 6 years ago, I remembered a famous quote by General Douglas MacArthur (whom my father admired): “We are not retreating. We are moving in a different direction”. Judy, Shirley, Michelle, Dorthy – Please accept our deepest condolences. We were greatly saddened by the news, but we will always have the memories of the good times we had together. George was one of those few people that had the full package: Family values, Charisma, Smarts, Work Ethic, and believing that you need to introduce fun into everything you do. Work was no different – regardless of how hard or easy things were, we always made time to laugh and celebrate our wins. He was one of those people that no matter how bad things were – one smile and bit of good Hungarian advice put you back on track. He was a huge influence on both my business and personal life – a mentor and a friend. A week doesn’t go by that I don’t use something I learned from him or recount a good story.
