It is with mixed emotions that we announce the passing of Helen on August 31st, who struggled with advanced dementia and who is now at peace. Beloved daughter of the late Avrum and Salka Klar, wife of the late Sonny Altman, incredible mother / mother-in-law to Earl, Cheryl and Dave, one of a kind bubby to her five grandchildren- the joys of her life – Stephanie, Alex, Mathew, Kai and Jayda. Her beautiful and connected relationship as sister to Ruthy and Gertie for her almost 90 years was legendary to anyone who had the privilege of knowing the “Klar Girls”. Sister-in-law to Cookie and the late Stanley, aunt to Donna, Alan, Debbie, Steven, Glenda and Janet and great aunt to many who loved her dearly. Nothing in her life meant more to her than her family.  She was happiest surrounded by her children and grandchildren and truly there was nothing better than experiencing her love. At the end of this journey, we also wanted to say a very special thank you (even though a thank you can not possibly cover how grateful we feel) to our special special caregivers Julie and Judy. Their love and care for our mom all these years was incredible, and we were so fortunate to have them as such a key part of our circle of care. We also want to thank Valleyview for all their efforts with our mom over the years. A special mention to our nurse Mario and our head nurse Mary Jane who went way above and beyond to help our mom. Thank you as well to Dr Mohapatra for his guidance.  And finally, to Elizabeth Bryce who was a supportive administrator through the challenges of covid. Funeral to be held at Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Sunday, September 4 at 2:00 p.m. Burial at the Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem Congregation Cemetery, Tifereth Jerusalem Section, de la Savane. Shiva following burial in Montreal followed by remaining shiva in Toronto.
