My wife Sheila and I want you to know how extremely sad we were to hear about the passing of Ilan. WE hope that the process of tears will become one of peace in a short time. I know that your Dad has been fighting for so long but I was shocked and so saddened to hear the news of his passing. I have known Ilan for over 25 years through Hartmans and he was always a gentle man full of stories/ engaging conversations about Israel, offering lessons from the Torah, adding life stories from his days in Israel and friends he lost as well as looking forward and enjoying past friends on subsequent trips, and telling wonderful jokes, etc. He was always concerned over the years that our son( now 25) was keeping up his Hebrew language and offered Israeli newspapers for him to practise with. I always looked forward to seeing him and he would always make you feel so welcome. He loaned me CD's over the years that he thought might be of interest. I admired his incredible courage and strength. He was a fighter. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren! He loved his wife dearly and would always talk about the care she gave to him. I will miss him greatly and I hope that through sharing this with the family that you will always know how much an impact he made on the community. He was a very special person and I wish you all great strength as you go forward in a different life always surrounded by good memories. Marlene, Ian and Mitch Rattner (friends!)
