Dear Andrea, I am so sorry for the loss of your mother. I know that she was your greatest love and your best friend. I will always remember Irene as the spunky, dynamo who taught me to make cheese blintzes. And so a little bit of her lives on every time I make them. The recipe is on the same sheet of paper and I am transported back to that day in the kitchen at her condo. May her memory always be a blessing.

Sending my condolences to you and your family. I knew your mother for decades at the Pickle Barrel. I always tried to get into her section, because she was the reason my family, friends and I looked forward to going there. Her big heart, energy and sense of humour were neatly wrapped into a tiny but powerful package. She was genuine and treated everyone with respect. These are all traits of a superb human being, which she was.
