Irene Doris (Blum) Freedman –

April 25, 1931 – February 26,2022.

With the dignity, strength, courage, and the privacy that our mother chose to live her life; Ma, Mom, Grandma, GG, Mrs. Murphy, Irene, Mrs. Freedman, all of which she may have been known by, passed away peacefully at Blanche River Health in Kirkland Lake surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Morris (1999), parents Morton and Bessie Blum, and brother Adolph (Ruth) Blum.

Mom is survived by her children, Richard (Brenda), and Barbara, cherished “G” to Mitchell, “GG” to Kaitlin, Ainsley, Travis (Miranda), and Olivia, sister-in-laws Ruth Tannewald (Kurt), Eunice (William) Freedman, many nieces and nephews, and friends.

MOM, our rock, mentor, confident, best friend.

OUR MOTHER WILL BE MISSED AS MUCH AS SHE WAS LOVED.

So sorry to hear the passing of your dear Irene. When I used to drive from Toronto to Kirkland Lake to visit our mutual friend, I always had time for lunch with your mom. She was such a lovely lady. RIP

To Irene’s family, When my husband did a medical locum in Kirkland Lake in 2002 or 2003, your Mom befriended us. She was a lovely woman and we enjoyed her friendship. In time your many memories will bring smiles to you Michael and Marcia Pascoe

Dear Barbara and Richard and family, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mom. She was a lovely lady who I remember very well from holidays at the shul in North Bay. And your mom and dad visiting with us as well. I actually just spoke to her with my mom late last year. She was always so kind to stay in touch with my mom over these past years. My mom always enjoyed catching up on the Northern Ontario news. May all your wonderful memories keep her in your hearts forever.

To Irene’s family, Our sincere condolences on the loss of your Mother. Irene befriended my husband and me in about 2002-2003 when he did a medical locum in Kirkland Lake. She hosted a lovely Shabbat dinner and we delighted seeing the former bedroom of a friend of ours from Waterloo, Bill Bryant, who had grown up in your home. Your Mother was warm and welcoming. I have wonderful memories of Irene. She was always so kind, caring, and loving to me whenever I was in Kirkland Lake. Furthermore, she was always there to help with the many deaths in my family...and gave me comfort with her good hugs. I will miss her.
