There will be a short gathering outside of Chabad Lubavitch of Southern Ontario on Tuesday before the funeral service at 10:45 a.m.

The family will be observing Shiva at 11 McMorran Crescent, Thornhill, L4J 2T4. Shacharit will be held daily from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Mincha will be held daily from 7:15 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with Maariv following right after. The family has asked that no visitors come between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m daily. Shiva concludes Monday morning, April 11th.

To The wonderful Janowski Family We cannot begin to explain our feelings at this news. Rabbi Janowski was our neighbour and friend. He brought people together and was the most positive leader imaginable. His efforts for the Jewish Community and his influence on everyday people like us were both enormous. What a loss to all of us, but especially to his cherished family. We have lost a Tzadek but we are all enriched for knowing him.

We are saddened to hear of Reb Yisroel's passing. I have had opportunity to work with him over the years on various political efforts related to the fight for fair funding of faith based schools in Ontario. I have sat with him in his Sukka numerous times as he entertained political hopefuls who might help the cause. He was a consummate mench, passionate in his views, persistent in his actions, and kind and respectful to everybody. He always had the needs of the community in mind. If we ever achieve fair funding of faith based education, it will be to a large part due to his legacy. At this time, he is surely enjoying a reunion in Gan Eden with his beloved daughter (who was our daughter's speech therapist for a time). May you be comforted amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

Yisroel was an amazing person, with tremendous insight into people. We worked for many years on trying to achieve funding for our schools. He led this fight and put a lot of effort into working on this. He was always offering sage advice and made many friends who helped our community. I will miss him greatly. I met Yisroel over 20 years ago at a Bar Mitzvah. We talked for the most part about our mutual caring of Jewish Education and ensuring that its signs cost precludes no one. It was clear to me that night and beyond they Yisroel was a great visionary with a persuasive personality. I was one of the many worked work with him and under his guidance. I will miss him.

I first met Rabbi Janowski when I was helping out a candidate for the PC party. He was active especially trying to get equal school funding. Over the years we traded e mails and ideas together.
