Dear Howard and Sharron and Samantha: I'm so sad to read that your Father/Grandfather, has passed away. Please hold close to your hearts all the many happy times you shared. All of you were so lucky that he survived so that you could be born. I know it's never easy to lose a Parent at any age. Please think of all the wisdom he passed onto you and carry it forward. Dear cousins Sharron, Howard and Samantha, Jeff and I are so sad to hear that our Uncle Jacob has passed. Although he suffered through the humiliation and horrors of the Holocaust we will always remember him with a warm smile and kind words. We are very proud and forever grateful to Uncle Jacob for his courageous service that contributed to the birth of the state of Israeli.

We loved listening to his stories at the Pesach table learning all about his life experiences. I especially loved visiting him and Auntie Jeannie and going swimming at their house during the summer. I have nothing but wonderful memories of you father and his great smile as we talked for hours around the kitchen table at my mother-in-laws house on Sunnycrest. Dear Sharon, Howard and Sammy, On behalf of myself and my kids, we are sending lots of love and big hugs to you. We are all going to miss Uncle Jacob, celebrated war hero, Holocaust survivor and amazing role model with a vast zest for life. "To make a long story short...." my personal memories include interviewing Uncle Jacob for my grade 5 Hebrew project on kibbutz life and marvelling at his attention to detail as a fascinating historian ( and yes, thanks to him I received an A+), driving to Pennsylvania with Uncle Jacob, Auntie Jeannie and Howard for a "vacation" I'll never forget, painting the Roots 'n Fruits truck for one of Uncle Jacob's sideline business ventures, and always enjoying Uncle Jacob, seated at the head of the Passover "adult" table with a big smile on his face, belting out Hebrew songs, thumping on the table with his fist to keep the beat to Dayenu and reading from the Haggadah at lightening speed, never aware that while he was on page 22, we were all still on page 3. Of course Sharon would then realize that Uncle Jacob's hearing aid had been accidentally (on purpose) turned off and she'd set us all back on track again. To Uncle Jacob, "Abba Lavan" the hero - thank you for being our SUPERhero! Love, Mich and kids
