GOLDSCHMIED, Jiri (George): After a long and courageous battle with cancer, George Goldschmied passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, on February 13, 2022, at the age of 75. Born in České Budějovice, Czech Republic on July 12, 1946, to the late Oswald and Anastasia Goldschmied. George arrived in Canada in 1969 and after some time in Edmonton, he attended the University of Waterloo where he obtained his engineering degree. George had a long and successful career as a civil engineer, designing trusses for homes and buildings throughout Canada. George raised his family in Toronto and later lived in Calgary before settling in Ottawa. He was an avid cyclist, a computer enthusiast and a lifelong learner. George was predeceased by his cherished brother, Rudy Goldschmied. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Ozzie and Stefanie Goldschmied and Jennifer Goldschmied. Proud grandfather to Noah, Jakob and Emily. He will be deeply missed by his dear friend Karl Heimlich and his family and friends in the Czech Republic . Special thanks to Drs. Hilton, Johnson and the staff at The Ottawa Hospital for their tremendous care over the years.
