On behalf of the Board of Directors and staff of the Bernard Betel Centre, we were shocked to learn of our dear Joan's sudden passing. Joan has been part of the Betel Centre family for many years, as a member, Board Member and most recently representative on Members' Council. She has been a leader, mentor and wise counsel for many members and staff throughout the years. Joan was compassionate, insightful and worked hard as a committed volunteer. We greatly benefited and valued Joan's friendship and wisdom. Her smile was infectious, as was her laugh and positive outlook on life. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Landy family at this very difficult time. May the family be comforted among all the mourners of Zion.

To the family of Joan Landy: I was saddened to hear of her death. I remember her very well and some of her children I met years ago. She was a lovely lady and I remember your father of blessed memory as well. Many years ago I also had occasion to be in what was then Rhodesia and was at the Gatooma Shul, where I believe your late father Rabbi Landy was the rabbi. By that time, I believe he was already in Canada but I didn't know your family at that time. The last time I saw your mom was at Dairy Treats restaurant, no longer in existance with a mutual friend who later had made aliya to Arad. May you her family who have been left behind be comforted with all the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and know no more sorrow. May your beautiful memories sustain you in your grief. Janice Lebow

Condolences to the family, My parents had been one of the "originals" at Antibes and my memories of your dearest Joan was always very social, friendly, direct in her opinions, lovable, warmest of smiles and genuine person... i always enjoyed chatting with her and saying hello to her little "Cookie" (both) and when I saw her visiting Baycrest during the time my late mom (z"l) was there she was still full of exuberant energy... what a lady... sorry for your loss but she was a treasure to everyone she met....
