John was an amazing person, a dedicated father and someone who I greatly admired and respected. He will be missed. I feel blessed to have known him.

Our sympathy as long-time friends at Toronto Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. As chair, John lead us in developing our mission and purpose and modernizing some archaic procedures. As a genealogist, he helped many through the inquiries role.

We hope that you all feel this kindness, love and warmth from everyone around you. John was a truly incredible, exceptional person. Rabbi Weiss, Randall, Melanie and the grandchildren beautifully shared and gave a glimpse and insight into the special individual he was as husband, father, brother, adored papa and friend. John was very honourable, had the highest integrity and lived his life as a shining role model and mentor to his family, friends and business acquaintances. He had respect from everyone at the highest level no matter where he was, who he was with or what he was doing and was always so deeply admired. He accomplished so many great things in his life and wore those badges of success and achievement with quiet pride and great humility. Annie and I had the privilege of friendship with both of you since we first met at Bayview many decades ago. I was personally so fortunate in having an adjacent locker to John for almost 30 years, with Harry on the other side. Harry and I always looked forward to our frequent weekly golf games together with John that were always filled with many moments of enjoyment, high competition, endless conversation and trickles of laughter. John’s elegant character always exuded calm and balance. He carefully and hardly showed that inside he was a fierce competitor and achiever; however, it was plain to recognize his core values and superlative efforts because he gave it all on the golf course. His life journey was consistent with everything he pursued, approached and touched – his family, work, friends, sports. He always acted from the heart and gave 100% of himself with his leadership, determination, excellence, strength, energy and passion. And even more. Those we love are really never gone because they will always have a cherished place in our hearts. They will always be remembered for the kindness they showed, the love and goodness they shared and the happiness they brought around them. John’s memory and legacy will live on in so many hearts forever. May all these wonderful memories of John, his love and his life, be with you all always and especially comfort you at this time.
