Passed away peacefully at her home after a long battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Raymond. Loving and devoted mother and mother-in-law of Carl and Lisa, Ruth and Andy, David and Denica. Cherished grandmother of Ziva (Gareth), Tai’o, Cooper, Aden, and Ayla. Proud great-grandmother of Avery. She will be sadly missed by her sister Susie (Emile), nieces Michelle and Ariel, their families and many friends. Many thanks to Joy and her other caregivers for their care and devotion.

Memorial Service Location: Chapel service at Steeles Memorial Chapel, 350 Steeles Ave. W., Thornhill

Burial Service Location: Bathurst Lawn Cemetery, 6033 Bathurst St, Toronto , First Narayever section

Shiva Details: 24 Cortleigh Blvd., Toronto, M4R 1K6. Shiva visits immediately after the service till 5 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday 2 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 9 p.m. Evening services at 7:30 p.m. Shiva will conclude Thursday morning.

Linda and I were saddened to hear about Judy's passing. As long time fellow members of the Five Winds Ski Club, we knew her very well and loved her as many members did. I was on the club executive team at the same time as she and Ray were, and had our meetings at their house. I also have memories of our camping trips together. Judy always had a smile on her face. She loved the outdoors and loved what we accomplished at Five Winds. Our deep condolences to the Mandel family. May her memory be a blessing. Jeff Current President of Five WInds

I used to dance with her in Sarina's classes, and last summer, visited with her at the park gatherings when she was able to attend. Dear Judy, You were the matriarch of your family and an amazing role model. You cared so much for people and changed the lives of so many. You were inspired by the children of Guatemala and were a great contributor to Access Education Guatemala. I remember you telling me that you hoped you could go on a tour there with me. While we weren't close, your energy and love were contagious and I am blessed to have known you. Your legacy lives on in Ruth, Andy, your kids, you grandchildren and your new baby great granddaughter. And to the entire family, our sincere condolences. When we moved into our house two doors down from Judy, I often saw her taking walks up the street. We became fast friends, because she would always stop to say hello and to let me say hello to Roger. She had such a generous and warm spirit - asking about my family, sharing her own stories, and telling me the history of the street. She was the best kind of elder. She was sweet, caring, fun, wise, and strong. Her spirit was so big that it seems much too early to have lost her. She made such a big impact here on Corteligh and will be remembered for a very long time. Rest in peace, my dear friend Judy.

Always so well informed - knew so much about everything going on in the city. I danced with her for so many years with The Vintage Dancers. We won't be the same without her.

I send my sincere condolences to the Mandel family and Susie. Judy has been in and out of my life for over 70 years, starting with memorable shared limousine rides for Susie, Judy and me to our weekly after-school modern dance lessons with Dorothea Brown, then at Camp Kvutza, where Judy was my counsellor one year. As friends of the Shiffs, we shared several events over the years. In recent years, we exercised and schmoozed as Active Agers. In her calm, reasoned way, Judy shared details of her medical condition and treatments, and provided inspiration as she persevered when others might have been more cautious. I hope your wonderful memories will help comfort you at this difficult time. I will always remember her with fondness.

I knew Ray and Judy from the ski club to which they were very devoted. They were both very kind to my wife Anne and myself when we were first starting our family. I have missed Ray for some years now and now I miss Judy.

Dear Mandel family and Susie, i have fond memories of Judy. I shared a tent with her at Camp Kvutza when she was head councillor. Many years later went with her and the Shiffs to the Galapagos. I heard of her realistic,honest and brave manner in which she faced her diagnosis. It did not surprise me because that was how she forged ahead in life. I wish you no more sorry . My condolences. Our most sincere condolences to all her family. Judy ( and Ray) our neighbours for more than 20 years. We shared a backyard ( no fence needed!) and they were always friendly, interested in our children as they grew up, and willing to share any chore or task on the property line. Watching Judy cross- country ski through North Toronto after a winter storm was an inspiration! We are saddened by her passing and Cortleigh Blvd will not be the same without her.
