An extraordinary woman who I have had the privilege of knowing for many years. There is no other like her - beloved, kind, generous, warm and taken far too soon. My sincerest condolences go to her wonderful family. May you all be comforted amongst the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem and know no further sorrow. I am so saddened and I miss her terribly.

I read the obit and my heart just sank. No, I did not know Julia well. Julia was a lady I only met at different events, sometimes, we'd just say a passing hello. Other times we would have a brief but important discussion. What I can say is that her heart was bigger than an ocean. When Israel would seriously be in some sort of distress, Julia would be in Israel trying to help in any way she could. This is a huge loss to Toronto's Jewish community and to all of Israel. Julia z"l was a giant in our community who always said "yes" to helping others. She blended outstanding leadership and a deep sense of caring in a unique way that inspired us all. It was an honour to watch her do good in the world and to learn from her. I will miss Julie, and am so grateful to have worked with her. Wishing Henry and the Koschitzky family warm memories always.

It was a great privilege to have known Julia, A warm, caring and kind person and an outstanding community leader. May Hashem bring comfort to the entire family and to all of Zion and Jerusalem, many of whom are also mourning this loss.

To Julia's family. I was terribly saddened to hear that Julia is gone from this world. She was an icon in the Canadian Jewish community. Her work to help Israel is beyond deion and many have applauded and will continue to heap lavish and most deserving praise. However, the Julia that I had the privilege of knowing was a very sweet and pretty younger woman who like me wanted to learn and improve our conversational Hebrew and we struggled together and shared frustrating moments of wanting to improve both in class at Karen Hartobut and in the years afterwards when we had a moment to chat at an event, or at a grocery store. It was always a pleasure to be in her gracious company and we have all suffered a great loss with her demise. May her family be suffused with pleasure by their memories of their sweet Julia. The prophet Zekharyah offers a vision of Shivat Tziyyon, Return to Zion, full of national dignity and universal appeal, of the Menorah with its beauty and brilliance. These images were exemplified by Julie's life. She was a gem, a woman of elegance, האבן הראשה, who will be greeted by the angels, saying חן חן לה, "She was full of Grace! Grace"

Thank you for everything you have done for Toronto's Jewish community. Your passing is a great loss, and you leave a great legacy.

We were so upset to hear of Julia's passing. She was and will remain in our hearts and minds as she was- a magnificent human being, with grace and humility, qualities which accompanied a drive to do good that was undeniable. She had an inner power and a great intelligence which allowed her to get things done, which combined with a leadership style which encouraged people to join her. She set an example- to her amazing family, who have in many ways followed in her footsteps. and to all those with whom she interacted. The Toronto Jewish Community is known around the world as a strong, inclusive, empathetic and caring community... from my experience, Julia did so much to make that happen. She loved the community, and the Jewish people and Israel. Whenever there was a UJA gathering, seeing Julia and Henry was a highlight. Whenever Julia recommended an approach, we listened carefully. Seldom do you find people who are so effective, while being so inclusive, so gracious, so humble, so kind... so very human in the best way possible. We have all been graced to have known Julia, and she will be missed in a major way. But her positive leadership and influences will live on through her family and friends and all of us who had the pleasure of spending time and sharing ideas with her. Henry and family, I am so very sad about the loss of Julia. Wherever I went in community, Julia was there, working hard for the cause. Julia was a special soul. She had the ability to let everyone around her feel special. A great mind, no wonder ,when the government of Canada was in the process of appointing the Governor General. Being out of the country it was impossible for me to be present. I had the privilege of serving on the Federation board during Julia's presidency and traveling together to Israel in 1996. I hope that Hashem will grant the entire family a full measure of comfort. I regret that the Jewish people has lost a great leader, a paradigm of grace and compassion, a model of gemilut hesed, and a champion of Israel.

Julie z”l was a role model for all of us - as a parent, leader, friend. She inspired us to work for the well being of our Jewish community and the community at large. I first met her when she was chair of the CJC Plenary (back in the 80s) and asked me to chair the Program Committee for the plenary.
