Dear, Carolyn, Stuart, Max, Sarah, Alvyn, Barb, Sam, Emma and Jaynie, Words cannot express how much we loved your mom and grandmother and how much she will be missed. She was a class act. She always looked immaculate, was kind, generous of spirit and with her time. She was smart, witty, cultured and interesting. We will remember her lovingly always and I'm sure we will continue to feel her presence. Darrin and Kaylee had an extra special relationship. Whether it was during coffee at her home, or while looking at the moon in song while over the phone when she was at Baycrest. They were happy in each other's presence. We were reminiscing of the time we played that card game (the one over the forehead) with her at the cottage and how funny she was and when she sat with Josh and chatted with him the entire time during Shabbat dinner. What a great and sweet lady. Thinking of you and sending you all our love. We wish you peace. You are part of our chosen family and we share in your grief. Bless her soul. Z'l. From the day I met her when she invited me as a newcomer to Canada to attend holidays in the Millers' beautiful home some 33 years ago, in every single interaction Kaylee provided an occasion to be inspired by her example to keep up a positive outlook, delight in her joy and curiosity, and marvel at that ever-present zest for life and people. At 88, Kaylee was infectiously young. Our hearts are with you — I know that while Kaylee’s physical presence is no longer, her spirit remains vibrantly alive.

One of my most cherished times spent with Kaylee was during a six-month sabbatical I spent in Toronto with my partner David. Almost immediately Kaylee extended an invitation for me to meet for lunch in the neighbourhood behind Mount Sinai hospital. That began a tradition of "ladies who lunch" meetings at a variety of spots that Kaylee knew and loved. So many different cuisines and different settings to explore. We talked about current events, local Toronto issues, literary fiction, Arts events and of course we laughed ALOT. It's Kaylee's lovely, infectious laughter that I will remember the most. On today, "International Women's Day" I celebrate Kaylee for being a strong, intelligent, gracious and loving woman who raised three daughters with all of the same qualities. Love to you Kaylee.

I remember Kaylee as a lively woman of great empathy, intelligence and a sense of humour. Sometimes, we would talk about intellectual topics like European history - I remember an in-depth conversation with her about WW1. However, the most precious moments were funny, human ones. On one occasion, as we sat in her kitchen, she was curious about what my sons were doing in life. My youngest was a model, so I took the opportunity to show her some of his modelling shots on my phone. Intrigued, Kaylee took my phone from me and started flicking through the images. Before I could stop her, she landed on a picture of him modelling Calvin Klein underwear. I was mortified ... but Kaylee thought it hilarious. It was a moment of silly, shared laughter.

Dear Carolyn, Barb, Jayne and families. When I heard the news of Kaylees passing , I started to tear up. Your Mom was the Mom that everyone wished for, she was kind, caring , inquisitive and loved to talk. There have been many years and encounters since high school , your Mom would always stop to chat, even if she got my name wrong most of the time, I didn’t mind I was so fond of her she was the only one that could get away with calling me MARSHA . I was always so happy to run into Kaylee when visiting my mom at the Terraces these past months, not least because she always seemed happy to see me. I have so many pleasant memories of my chats with this terrific woman, going back to my early childhood. She was such a dear, generous friend to my mother and our entire family. Kaylee will be greatly missed. Kaylee was a lifelong friend of my mom's (Phyllis Schwartz), our family friend (Schwartz family), a bright light with a dazzling zest for life. We will always cherish the memories of family times at your first cottage and then the cottage on Grand Bend, your house on Killarney Road, and Spadina Rd, life at Forest Hill Collegiate and South Prep, and the sweet smell of Marvin's pipe tobacco on our visits to Sam the Record Man to buy Jazz records. Kaylee always had winning practical solutions to life problems whether it was dealing with ink stains on a rug, dry pie crust, or gummy rice, and could have written a book, "Life according to Kaylee". Kaylee was definitely a people person, generous with her time and enjoyed film, theatre, teas, museums, art galleries and more with my mother Phyllis throughout her life. This fun did not stop when Kaylee received her diagnosis; Kaylee's commitment to friendship and social interaction carried on even when her energy was limited. Kaylee was always generous with her time, always seeking out opportunities to share a laugh, a smile and to spread goodwill through the community. In fact, my last conversation with Kaylee took place several months ago when we spent about two hours on the phone. During that conversation Kaylee described her first date with her late husband Marvin (Marvy), and how she "knew it was right from the start." "When you meet the right person, Ellie, you just know it, and I knew he was the one." Kaylee spread joy throughout the universe to everyone who was lucky enough to know her. Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched.

Dear Miller Family, I was a neighbour of Kaylee’s at the Marquesa for many years. She was across the hall from me and we had a lovely relationship, whether she needed eggs or I sugar. I met one of her daughters when she stored some balcony furniture on my balcony while hers was being renovated. She was a delightful lady who always kept busy. I haven’t seen her since I moved. May her loving memory be a blessing. Hers was a life, well lived.

Kaylee was such a kind, loved, and loving person. I'm so sorry to hear that she's passed away. She was so funny and always had a smile on her face. She was like a bubi to me and I loved the time I got to spend with her at the cottage and at Shabbat dinners. She always expected the best of us and was able to bring it out in everyone that she met.

My mind and heart refuse to accept the reality of Kaylee's death. She was someone who truly epitomized "joie de vivre" She leaves a huge hole in our lives that no one else can fill but I know that the memories she created will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. ,Kaylee was a wonderful person, with a huge personality that spread her joy and charm wherever she was.. She was a warm and generous hostess, always making one feel welcome in her charming homes. And when I moved into my condo she was the first one at my door to make me feel better about having to give up my house. No matter what she was experiencing she always found the optimistic side of it, always had a compliment to make one feel good about oneself. She was a unique and special person.

I’ve had nothing but great memories of great auntie Kaylee anytime I got the chance to see her she would be full of smiles and such high spirits which always made me feel warmth and love being in her presence. She cared so much about her family and making sure everything was done to perfection. I will sadly miss her but was left with nothing but great memories of Kaylee. I remember Kaylee so fondly from the many wonderful times I spent during my childhood, playing at your house and visiting your original family cabin. In my adult life, I would see Kaylee from time to time in the community. She always greeted me with a brilliant smile that could light up everyone around her, and enthusiastically brought me up to date on the family. She absolutely glowed when talking about her excitement of spending time with all of you at the family cottage. Charles and i had looked forward to once again spending some pleasurable time with Kaylee as she made preparations to move into her new and recent abode at The Terrace as our neighbor. She proudly showed me around her suite and how she had decorated the walls with photos of all members of her family. Together we looked forward to sharing lunch and dinner at nearby dining room tables and taking walks down the beautiful grounds of Baycrest. It was early fall and the weather was warm and beautiful, as we sat on deck chairs and listened to some of the music being provided by a cantor for the on-coming high-holidays. We sang along with him when we could and just felt the power of the religious music as he sang the songs and dovened. She pointed out some of the flowered bushes in bloom which were like those that her mother used to have We looked forward to the months ahead when we could enjoy some stimulating and interesting programs in doors until the weather turned too cold. Both Charles and i enjoyed stopping by her table as we finished our meals and shed some news of friends and so forth together. It is with great sadness that these dreams of spendng lots of good and worthwhile time together with Kaylee came to such a short end as her health began to deteriorate and she had to spend time with doctors or in hospital. Charles and I send our condolences to all the members of the family and hope that the beautiful memories will remain in their hearts forever.

When Kaylee came to Vancouver to visit Jaynie, she made an impression on me from the first time I met her. She had a remarkably warm and caring nature. She was always curious and interested in hearing about the lives of Jaynie's circle of friends. Kaylee was genuine and down to earth and one of those people who really cared to hear about the interests and curiosities of others. She had a way of making you feel heard and understood. My husband, Paul and I had the prvilege of hosting Kayle on two occasions at our home in Whistler. She arrived with an impressive selection of outfits, all colourful, modern and stylish, complete with scarves and jewellry. If you know Whistler, you know that it is a casual place, clothing style is sporty, mostly comprised of fleece and gortex. Before one dinner we shared with Kaylee, she requested for me to come to her bedroom. I thought she needed help to get settled in. However, she asked for my advice to help her choose a matching scarf to complete her outfit for dinner. Later, she arrived at the table with a smile and a giggle, outdressing us all. Barbara, Jaynie and Carolyn, how blessed you were to have such a loving mother, deeply dedicated to her family. I hope the treasured memories of family time surround and comfort you now. Having friendship that stretched over many decades with Kaylee was my good fortune. We met at Harbord Collegiate. We weren’t in the same classes, but even so, we became friendly at the Harbord Friday Night dances and other Harbord events. She was lovely and vivacious. She married a fellow Harbord-ite Marvin and shortly afterwards, they left Canada for a while. After they returned to Toronto, the friendship between our two families blossomed. I enjoyed being in your Mom’s company. Her parties were elegant, with lots of fun, and delicious food. Her smile was always welcoming. Often we had conversations that touched our inner being. I felt she always focused on the positive, and that was very helpful and nourishing for me. She became part of the work force, loved Art, symphony and family. Since I too followed the same path - which wasn’t what usually happened in families in those years – this common experience brought us closer. Kaylee was truly a treasure for all who knew her. My heart tells me just how saddened all her children, grandchildren and in-laws must feel on the loss of a very splendid woman. While each of you supported, cared and loved Kaylee all these many years, especially these last few, we must remember how much she appreciated and loved everything you did to make her life comfortable and meaningful.
