It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Orenstein on December 12, 2021. Beloved husband and partner in life to Neita Israelite; proud uncle to Aron and Ben Israelite; cherished by family and friends. An editor at the Globe and Mail for more than 35 years, Larry was erudite, smart, quirky and funny. He will be missed more than words can say.

Many thanks to the Palliative team and CCU doctors and staff at North York General Hospital, for their compassionate care during Larry’s last weeks.

Only those who have received at least their second COVID-19 vaccine are permitted to attend the funeral service. A vaccine passport and photo identification will be required to enter the chapel.

There will be a virtual Shiva gathering for Larry on December 15th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The remainder of the Shiva will be observed privately. Please see below for the Zoom details:
