On Friday, August 6, 2021, just shy of her 101^st birthday. Wife of the late Abraham Hochman. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of Ada and Jim Katz, Shosh (Susan) and Julius Grabel, Sheila and Arthur Lampert. Cherished Bubbie of Ilana and David, Micah and Rachel, Aviva and Alan, Davi and Ahuva; David and Ilana, Melanie and Daniel, Jennifer and Dalton; Danielle and Michael, and Adam. Treasured great-grandmother of Yisrael, Simi, Hillel, Donny, Elie, Ayala, Yaacov, Naama, Ashira, Jordana, Gabriel, Azriel, Asher; Yaakov, Nechama, Isabelle, Brayden, Mitchell, Naomi, Shira, Natanel, Tzofiya, Yosef, Binyomin, and Noah. Predeceased by her siblings and their spouses Israel and Lucia Zimmerman, Herman and Judith Zimmerman; and her parents, other siblings and many relatives who perished in the Holocaust. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews, their families, and by all who knew and loved her. Private graveside service will take place in Montreal. Shiva private. Lea spoke to many people through schools, synagogues, and countless organizations about her experiences during the Holocaust. This past year, she took her message virtually all over the world and taught about her most important topic “THE MIRACLES OF HASHEM”.

She believed that everything happens for a reason,

and we all need to have a strong Emunah (belief in Hashem).

Dearest Sheila and family What a incredible Ema you had. We were so privileged to have her tell her story of survival on our Daughter of Survivors Zoom last April. You and I were just talking about how much Ema loved her new lounger and I will always cherish the picture you sent us of mom enjoying it. She was a very special mother and you were so blessed to have her in your life for so many wonderful years. You were an amazing doting daughter. One that gave her much naches. Now that the Reena building is completed while she looked through her condo window everyday, it must have been her time to say goodbye. Dear Sheila and family, I was saddened to read about the loss of your incredible mother. I remember her as a dynamo when she used to help our group out at the Haddassah garage sale. She had more stamina and salesmanship than all of us put together. I enjoyed hearing stories about her sewing clothing for the family and how well she managed living on her own for so many years. She was a dear friend of my sister, Shelley Lindo, and we had the pleasure of visiting her when she narrated for us (along with the narrator) her experiences during the holocaust. She loved speaking and everyone loved listening to her. Lea was an inspiration to all she encountered. Lea's many talks about her survival during the war reached and educated many people and her emunah and trust in Hashem were endless. The world has lost a sweet soul. Dear Family There are no words to express how broken hearted I am at the passing of your mom, your Bubby and great Bubby. She was more than a good friend to me. I have so many wonderful memories of our talks after davening at Shul and looked forward to seeing her there each week. I spent an amazing day a few years ago when she taught me how to make kreplach. She was such an inspiration to me and has taught me so much. She first told me and my sister Marcia and some friends from Aish her story when she showed us her video and spoke about her life. That was before she began speaking to the hundreds of students and groups she spoke to over the years. She will be forever in my heart and thoughts. A true woman of valour. I’m so grateful for her having my sister and I there when she received her memoirs and she gave me one of the copies which I will always cherish. My thought and prayers will be with you all tomorrow. Lea will surely be missed but never forgotten. She always had a smile on her face. She was an incredible speaker and always happy. At the end of one of her talks she answered questions from the crowd and joked that we were all sitting for such a long time and we all looked so tired. But she had been standing for over an hour and was not tired at all. I hope your memories of her will always make you smile. I know I will always smile everytime I think of her.

Dear Sheila and family, I, and the women of the Chai Centre, are all so grateful, humbled, and honoured that we got to hear your mother speak over Zoom back on Tu B'shvat (Jan 28) of this year to our group. We were all deeply touched and inspired by her indomitable strength, courage, wisdom, resourcefulness, resilience, hope and unshakable emunah (faith). I distinctly remember that when we invited your mom to address our women and share her story, that she was concerned about the time she had to speak, and to our surprise and subsequent delight, that one hour was NOT going to be enough for your mom, an impressive, 100 year-old Holocaust survivor!! And indeed it was not as she could have spoken-and we could have listened to her- for hours! You and your family have all done her proud...what a remarkable legacy she leaves behind! And the gifts of her wisdom, values, strength, emunah and not to mention, public speaking, are carried on through all of you,..l'dor v'dor. May her memory be for a blessing for us all.

Mrs. Hochman will always be my favorite neighbor (even though we moved out of the building 3 years ago.) I will miss our erev shabbos phone conversations so much. She was such an incredible source of chizuk for me. She was always so strong in her emuna and her humor and joy despite all she had been through always filled my heart with awe. I will miss her so much. She loved each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren so much and i loved to hear about her nachas when we spoke.
