Our dear and beloved Leon Pinto passed away on June 23, 2021 just before midnight. He died peacefully in the hospital while surrounded by his four children.

Leon was born in Tangiers, Morocco on October 19, 1934. He devoted his life to his family, friends and to his passion for Orthodox Judaism and for his beloved Tiferet Israel Congregation. He was a man of faith with the highest of values and he always went above and beyond to make sure that everyone near him was comfortable and happy. He was a light to all that had the pleasure of knowing him and a symbol of strength, perseverance and avodat Hashem le shem shamayim.

Leon is survived by his wife Sol, by his children Flora, Estrella, Esther and Aron, by his son in laws Ken, Jeff and Aaron, by his daughter in law Angelica, by his grandchildren Diana, Jay, Lisa, Amanda, David, Joey, Elizabeth, Leora, Jennifer, Jacob, Sarah, Leon and Alex, by his great grandchild Ryan and by his siblings Liliane Abecassis and Victor Pinto.

Funeral services will be held at Bathurst Lawn Memorial on June 24, 2021 at 1:30 PM with Rabbi Zrihen officiating, but due to covid restrictions only immediate family will be present. A Zoom broadcast will be available as well.

Shiva services will take place at 224 Codsell Avenue as follows:

Thursday 7-9 PM

Friday 10 AM – 12 PM

Sunday-Tuesday 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM

Flora will be sitting Shiva at 34 Rose Green Drive, Thornhill in the backyard, proper distancing & masks.

Visits: Thursday: 7-9 p.m. Friday: 2-4 p.m. Sunday-Monday 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m., Tuesday 2-4 p.m.
