Sharon and I are heartbroken to hear this sad news of Lou's Passing. I have known Lou for decades and found him to be a man of love, principle and a great advocate for Israel. He was dedicated, loyal and so supportive of me during the early years of my cantorial career often insisting that I should continue the sacred craft of chazzanut. I grew to love him very dearly and he was always so appreciate, warm and welcoming when I went upstairs to visit in the condo building where we live. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him. May his neshama have an aliyah and his dear Anna, Michael and Ingrid should be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.

We have had the joy of knowing him and enjoying his company for the last 12+ years, starting with meeting you both at the Columbus Centre one very crowded lunch hour. I have fond memories of Lou in both our interactions in Shul as well as on the golf course. you should know, and I will never forget that Doug Millstone and I have a special term of reference with respect to an extra shot on the golf course. We were deeply saddened to hear of Lou's death. He was a star in so many ways and exemplified the best in human nature. He was thoughtful, kind, personable and fully committed to the Jewish world, Israel and in particular, Beth Tikvah. He understood the need for Jews to stand up for our welfare and defend ourselves in all circumstances. He was a remarkable raconteur and loved to schmooze and share his life experiences. Lou will be fondly remembered by our family in Calgary. We remember our kids, particularly Shiloh, sitting on his lap and going for rides in his motorized wheelchair. His gentle voice and warm smile made all 3 of our young kids instantly comfortable with him. I personally will remember him for his strong commitment to Judaism and his unwavering support of Anna and her radiant personality. Lou made an indelible mark on our family and he will be missed.
