To the family of Mrs. Magda Sabovitch: How can we capture the essence of your precious mother a"h. You - her children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter were the jewels in her crown. Every student in her classes learned math, physics, chemistry, coupled with stories of the amazing kibud av v'eim of her children. Her influence on her students reached beyond the classroom. Students who graduated B.Y. continued their relationship with Mrs. Sabovitch. Her reach knew no borders and no time limits. She encouraged and guided girls who were privileged to experience her caring nature and wise counsel. Her humor was self deprecating, her interests varied, and, despite physical challenges she was young at heart and spirit. She cherished your father a'h, and kept his memory alive and constantly in her life. Excuse the pun, but Mrs. Sabovitch was in a 'class' by herself. She bridged the world of Europe, of her beloved Eretz Yisroel and her world in Toronto. Her emunah in Hashem was absolute. She was blessed with a beautiful neshama. Dear Harold, Shirley and your families. Magda was a true "lady" in every sense of the word - she was warm, kind, caring and dignified. I know that she loved teaching - both the subject and the students - and throughout the years, I heard many stories about her dedication, and how much her students loved her in return. Her passing is truly a loss to so many. May it be a comfort to all of you, knowing that her legacy is being carried on by you, your children and grandchildren, and by her colleagues and students. . Dear Shirley, Harold and family: Your mother, grandmother, great-grandmother was a VERY SPECIAL LADY. She was a wonderful cousin to me and my children, and of course to Irving. She will be missed so much. Please know that I am thinking of you at this very sad time. May you know of no more sorrows. Love, Marilyn.

As a former BYHS student, I wasn't one of Mrs Sabovich's for too long as I dropped her class. Yet, she was warm, friendly, cheerful and inspiring to all of us for many many years after. This is truly the end of an era in the history of BYHS. Of course she was doing what she loved most till the last possible day. Everyone loved her and she will be sorely missed. Although there's nothing to say at such a tragic time, just know that she impacted many a girl who strode down the halls at BYHS. תנצב״ה.
