It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Malvin (Mel) Kay on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at North York General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Beloved husband of Sophie, dear father and father-in-law to Roxanne and Jay Leider and Michelle and Phil Scott, loving brother and brother-in-law to Jules and Mary Kay and devoted Zaidy to his grandchildren Jonah, Haley, Sari, Emily and Ashley.

He will be deeply missed by all of his family and friends.

Mel was born 7 months before me ,so I can say that I knew him for 88 years as of Sept.1 the day I was born.He was not only a close cousin but more like an older brother. We did everything together .We were in the same public school class, played sports on the same teams ,had the same friends ,went to baseball and hockey games together and for a while lived in the same house at 180 Brunswick Avenue. I have so many other loving memories of our times together too numerous to discuss in this tribute. Sophie ,you were the love of his life. He was so proud of his children and grand children.
