Mamie Ruth Winston, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 5, 2024, in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She was born on April 4, 1933, in Toronto, Ontario, and her life was a testament to love, dedication, and unwavering commitment to her family.
Mamie is survived by her loving husband, Arthur, her sons Monte and Howard, her cherished daughters-in-law Shelley Winston and Anne McDivitt, her adored grandchildren Adam (Jacqueline) Ryan (Ilana), Hayley (David) Schaumer, Derek (Alicia), and Hayley McDivitt, (Geoff) and her precious great-grandchildren Liam, Lily Rose, Shayna, Rachel, Noah, Cori, Brody, Jack, Olive, and Mille.
Mamie spent 25 years at the Customs Brokerage firm of Henry Weiner, where she dedicated herself to her work before retiring in 1991. However, Mamie’s greatest passion lay in looking out for the best interests of her family. She found immense joy in celebrating holidays in her home, surrounded by the family she loved and watched grow over the years.
A private graveside service will be held for the family at Pardes Shalom Cemetery on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Amica Retirement Residence for 12 excellent years of care, companionship, and hospitality. They are also thankful to Sunrise Senior Living for making Mamie’s recent move and final days comfortable.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to Mamie’s personal doctor, Franklyn Sheps, MD, for years of exemplary care. They would also like to give special mention to the staff and doctors at Mackenzie Health Centre for their care and guidance during Mamie’s final days.
Mamie’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Mamie Ruth Winston will be dearly missed and forever remembered. May she rest in peace, knowing that her love and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
