It is with great sadness that Dr. Marci Freedman (born July 13, 1985 – died Nov 22, 2024) has passed after a very long battle with cancer. Marci loved rock music, making noises like “squee” when she was happy and travelling the world to see ancient manuscripts. Her most favourite person to read about was Benjamin of Tudela. She became so interested in him that she wrote many papers on Benjamin and followed his travels.
She loved her friends and family fiercely and made sure that they knew it. She got to live out the rest of her days in Jerusalem after making Aliyah over the summer.
Gone before she was 40 but lived a life bigger than any number could contain.
Beloved family includes but is not limited to her parents Lori & Jeffery Freedman, brother Harrison & Sarra and nephew Jack Paull Freedman, Niece of Linda Gerring, Granddaughter of Sandy & Paull Gerring (Paull of blessed memory), and Rose & Marvin Freedman both of blessed memory.
Thank you to Marci’s extended villages in Israel, Manchester, London, Chicago, Thornhill and Toronto.
Funeral for Dr. Marci Freedman ( Mira Riva by Tzviya) took place in Israel at 1:30pm (Israel time) Sunday (6:30am Toronto time) at Har Hamenuchot, Jerusalem, in Beit Hesped Kehillat Yerushalayim.
In lieu of flowers, we have decided to raise Tzedakah in her zechut for the palliative care unit at Shaare Zedek, which she was under for the last few months. Please help us do this for Marci and feel free to share this link.
