Martha Sorger, a strong, intelligent, and loving woman, passed away on January 9, 2025 in Toronto. Born in Kosice, Czechoslovakia on February 11, 1928. Martha’s life was a testament to resilience, strength, and unwavering love. She was a Holocaust survivor, and her journey from the darkness of that time to the light of her life in Canada is a story of courage and determination.

Martha is survived by her daughter Susan, son Bob, and grandchildren Monica, Jesse, Jarret, Ellie, and Sendi. Her legacy lives on through her family, who will always carry her spirit with them.
In 1961, Martha arrived in Canada with her 6-year-old daughter Susan and was pregnant with her son. Two years later, she met Joe, and they married, embarking on a journey that would see them build a successful Electrical Supply business together. Jomar Electric became renowned for its honesty, integrity, and Joe’s ingratiating manner in sales and Martha’s acute business acumen. She was an extremely hard worker, driven by her unwavering determination to provide a better life for her children than she had experienced.
Martha will be remembered for her generosity, selflessness, and savvy mind. She was a giving woman who contributed to many charities and touched the lives of countless individuals. Her powerful presence and love were felt by all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of the Terraces at Baycrest for enhancing Martha’s quality of life in her final years. Their care and compassion provided comfort and support during a time of need.
A funeral service to honor Martha’s life will be held at Steeles Memorial Chapel on Sunday, January 12 at 1 PM. Donations can be made in Martha’s name to Magen David Adom Toronto Chapter  (https://www.cmdai.org/en/content/22-toronto) a cause that was close to her heart.
