Martha Vajda passed away on Sunday June 7, 2020
She was born Marta Schwarcz, Jan 8, 1925. She was 95.
She had pancreatic cancer. She was cared for round the clock in her home  throughout her illness by Ildi Winter and Lisa Marshall.
She was a smart lady who had control of her faculties to the end.
The funeral was Monday at Bathurst Lawn Cemetery. Rabbi Landesman held the services. She is survived by her two sons and granddaughter, relatives and friends in Hungary and Toronto.
In 1944 she married her husband of 70 years, Zoltan. They managed to survive the concentration camp they were in. Her mother passed away at an early age and her father perished in the Holocaust.
Throughout her life she was a member of Hadassah and active as Vice President of the Simcha Congregation caring for the spiritual needs of the Hungarian Jewish Community of Toronto.
She was generous, contributing to many charities, in particular to Jewish causes and the State of Israel.
She became the head bookkeeper for Eaton’s Department Stores in Toronto.
After retirement she stayed active handling the business affairs for the Simcha congregation, socializing,  playing cards with her friends and attending Holocaust meetings at Baycrest.  She also participated at UJA Toronto Hebrew Memorial Parks meetings.
She was loved and respected and a great friend to all who knew her
