Maurer, MarvinrnDr. Marvin Maurer, passed away at Sunnybrook Hospital on Sunday, August 24th, 2008 at the age of 78. Born in Hempstead, New York. Son of the late Abraham and Mary Maurer. Survived by brothers Stewart Maurer (Maeve), and Marvin Schwartz (Susan). Beloved husband of the late Anne Maurer (nee Feldman). Father to children through his wife Anne Maurer, Brian, Cory, Joy, and Arthur Walker, Jane Schneiderman, Howard Podeswa, and Sari Walker. Grandfather of Samantha, Rachel, Benjamin, Jacob, and Daniel. Companion to Judith Ghert, and close friend to Katherine Fuerst. Marvin graduated City College in New York, he was in the U.S. Airforce during the Korean War. After the war he received his P.H.D from Columbia University in Political Science. He taught at Louisiana State and Monmouth University from which he retired. He was a chess champion. He published several books and articles including Political Behaviour in the U.S. He was active in Israeli affairs, as he was very concerned with it’s survival. He will be greatly missed by all. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 26th, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from Mount Sinai Cemetery, Shaarei Tefillah section.
