Mary Schott, peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2017 at North York General Hospital. Beloved wife of the late Karl Zigelstein and Emil Schott. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Laraine and Art Hansher, and Gail Siboni. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Mayna and Norman Slatt. Cherished grandmother of Lisa and Jason, Carly and Steven, and David. Great grandmother of Kayla, Bria, Kaden, and Brooklyn. How well I remember Mary, (Miriam), as a once active member of my troupe, The Entertainers of the Wagman Centre, until we left the Centre to become an independent troupe, JUKEBOX JAMMERS. . I remember her spirit and ability to entertain with Yiddish as well as English songs. May her memory be of a blessing.

I knew Miriam when she first moved to the Terraces of Baycrest and then continued to be with her when she moved to the Apotex.. I also became very connected to both her daughters Laraine and Gail. I worked and understood Miriam and we had a connection. She had a warm smile and a great sense of humour and yes she loved to entertain and sing. She had many friends ,especially at the Terraces. She was engaged in programs and liked to be with people. She will be remembered forever and will always be in my heart.

Barb Nudelman and Ethel Segal

Dear Mayna, Laraine, Gail and family, How saddened we were to learn of Miriam's passing this week. Miriam was a wonderful friend to my mom, Ethel Segal, at the Terraces of Baycrest. She welcomed my mom with her friendship three years ago when my mom came to live at the Terraces. She encouraged my mom to join many activities and called her daily. Miriam visited my mom in hospital and called her regularly when she was very ill from January to April of 2015. They had a special relationship. My mom was very sad when her good friend moved to the Apotex. She was devastated when she learned of her recent passing. May your family be spared further sorrow and be comforted in knowing that Miriam made a difference in the life of her good friend, Ethel. She will be missed. Miriam was my teacher at Associated in Nursery in 1969 when I was 4. I actually remember her from that time and was so surprised when she came into my dental office about 10 years ago with our class picture and pointed the both of us out. She was able to remember me and we had great fun talking about my year with her. Over the past 10 years, she has treated me like a son, and I have felt that she was like a grandmother to me. I always looked forward to our times together. We will miss her in our office, and I will certainly miss her loving and caring manner, that was an important foundation and part of my childhood. May her memory be for a blessing. It certainly is for me. Jon
