Maurice Tameshtit died Friday, September 15, 2023 at his Baycrest residence at the age of 90, surrounded by his family.  His only son, Allan Tameshtit, and his wife Robin will remember him as a loving, attentive father who was devoted to his wife, Lydia, who predeceased him in 2017.  He was a dedicated, playful grandfather, or abuelo, to granddaughters Sidonia, Marisa and Sophie, with whom he shared a special bond.  He was loved by his nieces and nephews Ronny Sananes and Raquel Sananes Grad, Albert, Michel and Jacqueline Aziza, Raquel Corcias and Sonia Bendayan, Nikki, Steven, Michel and Stephanie Serruya.  He will be lovingly remembered by his sister- and brother-in-law Paulette Aziza and Michel Leon Serruya.

He and Lydia moved with their son Allan to Toronto from Rabat, Morocco in 1970 and made North York their community and home.  He was an active member of Tiferet Israel, Petah Tikvah Anshe Castilla and Minyan Sefarad Congregations for many years.  He had a long career in banking and accounting.  His friends knew him as the life of the party, ready with a joke and a smile.  He was an accomplished cook and kept the Moroccan culinary flavors alive in Toronto.  He came up with ingenious solutions to everyday problems around the home and believed in reusing items before it was a trend.  He created many lasting traditions with his family, especially his granddaughters.

Memorial donations may be made to the Baycrest Foundation (https://www.baycrestfoundation.org/).
