Peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on Friday September 28, 2018. Beloved husband and best friend of 72 years to Rose. Loving father and father-in-law of Helen Bossin and the late Larry Bossin z”l, Evelyne and David Suchter. Cherished Zaide of Brian and Helen, Melanie and Mark, Robbie and Rebecca, Jana and Bryan, Amanda and Mike, and Lesley and Eli. Wonderful great-Zaide to Brielle, Jaime, Abby, Harley, Jeremy, Riley, Jacklyn, Shale, Leya, Annie, and Joshua. Meyer was a true mench and will be remembered for his beautiful smile, warm blue eyes, incredible sense of humour, passion for Jewish traditions and his endearing love of family. He will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

Dear Berliner, Bossin and Suchter families, Riva and I extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all of you on Max’s passing. We always looked forward to wishing him Shabbat shalom and laugh as Max would joke that I owed my political career at shul to him. It was also truly heartwarming to see the devotion of Brian and the other grandchildren who brought Max to shul every week. May you all be comforted by your memories of Max and may his memory forever be a blessing to all of you. Bernie & Riva

Dear friends We were saddened to hear of your Fathers passing. We were privileged to have him as part of our lives too, lucky to explore Israel with your parents. We will never forget as he led our children through the Holocaust Museum and pointed at a picture and said, “I stood there”. Or when he kibbutzed with our girls in Toronto and Florida. Michael S. Kerzner, Immediate Past President Beth Emeth

Mr. Berliner attended Shabbat morning services regularly. During my term as President, he always greeted me warmly on his way to his seat with his grandchildren. Beth Emeth was important to him, and the entire Congregation stands united with the Berliner family at this sad time. May his memory and good name be for a blessing.

Brooke Halpert (Elsner)

I knew Mr. Berliner from when I was a young child, watching him play cards and visit frequently with my grandfather, Sam Elsner. When I was about 4 or 5 and vacationing with my grandparents and the Berliners at Pinedale in Muskoka, I asked my grandfather what Mr. Berliner's name was. He told me to go ask him and when I did, I still remember Mr. Berliner smiling and saying, "My name is Moishe Meyer Pitzele". I believed this was his real name until I was in my late teens and my mother finally corrected me. I will remember Mr. Berliner as a warm man with a big smile. I will miss him dearly. My condolences to Mrs. Berliner and the whole family.

To the deer family of Max Berliner. I was so sad and to hear of the passing of Mr. Berliner.. I so look forward to seeing him in the synagogue on Saturdays. He would pass by me and every time he would say "Meilich's Tochter" with a big smile on his face. I know my parents were very good friends. I truly will miss seeing his smiling face

I was terribly saddened to learn of Max's passing. I always looked forward to seeing him while growing up. He was always a source of laughter, stories and and uplifting positivity. I also remember him giving his undivided attention to when he engaged you. Max and his family exuded the best of Jewish tradition and those are the wonderful memories I'll hold on to. My best wishes to Rose, Helen and Evelyn.
