TAMESHTIT de SANANES, MERCEDES, Passed away peacefully at home on May 28, 2019 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Messod Sananes z.l”. Adored and cherished mother and mother-in-law of Raquel & David Grad and Ron & Mandi Sananes. Loving and devoted Abuelita of Veronica & Stephanie Grad and Lexie & Matthew Sananes. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Maurice and the late Lydia Tameshtit and the late Solomon & Mercedes Tameshtit z’l. Fondly remembered by all her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Mercedes was born on March 24, 1936 in Ceuta, Spain. At the age of 3, she moved to Tangiers, Morocco with her parents and two brothers. She met the love of her life, her husband of 44 years, Messod zl”, in Tangiers. Mercedes married in Rabat, Morocco in November 1960 and had two children. She immigrated to Canada with her husband and children in March 1967. She loved living in Toronto and was proud of her Canadian, Spanish and Jewish heritage. Her pride and joy were her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister, aunt and friend. She was loved by everyone who knew her. She was a woman with a Heart of Gold.
