It is with great sadness that we share the loss of Michael Siegel who passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 3rd at Baycrest. Michael’s parents were Jean and Louis Siegel z’l and his in-laws were Dora and Murray Hiltz, z’l. Michael cherished his late sister Gail, z’l. Michael is survived by his loving wife Ellen (Hiltz) and their children, Marc and his wife Rachel, and Stuart and his wife Dara. He was a loving Zadie to Yehudah, Avigayl, Maya, Akiva, Eliyahu, Nachama, Tehilla, Ethan, and Dylan; and his dear brother, Rick. Michael was respected, trusted and loved by many. He was handsome, humble, and very intelligent. He leaves a legacy of strength, kindness and devotion to his religion and family. Michael practiced law for almost 30 years, and when he retired from law, he did his own financial investing. People often asked him for his advice for legal and financial matters. He enjoyed studying Torah on his own or with others and asked and discussed many philosophical questions. Michael was athletic and was known for walking or running around the neighbourhood on a regular basis. He enjoyed studying the business markets. Michael loved his Shabbat dinners with his grandchildren Ethan and Dylan, he loved visiting Israel, especially when his son Marc and his family lived there, as well as spending many winters in Florida. Our heartfelt gratitude to our devoted and loving caregivers, Nora, Rosie, Aala and Princess. As well, thank you to all of our PSWs who helped us in our home for a number of years with Michael’s care. We also want to thank all the staff and drivers from Circle of Care which Michael attended before he moved into Baycrest two weeks ago. Thank you to the staff of Baycrest who were just getting to know him. Michael will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
