Miriam Sapiro died peacefully in hospital on January 10, 2024 (29th of Tevet) at the age of 82. Loving mother to her children Susan (Lewis) and Beth (Aaron); Bubbie to Aliza and Bina. Predeceased by her beloved husband Cyril Sapiro; brothers Jack Hartzman and Sam Hartzman; and parents Ben and Bertha Hartzman. She will be dearly missed and remembered by all her family and many friends. With gratitude to the wonderful staff at Sunnybrook Odette, CMH, and Palliative Care units and Mosaic Home Care.

Memorial Service Location: Chapel service at Steeles Memorial Chapel

Burial Service Location: Pardes Shalom Cemetery, 10953 Dufferin St., Maple, Beth Tikva section

Shiva Details: 89 Burbank Dr., Toronto, M2K 1N5. Friday immediately after the service till 3 p.m., Saturday night 7 to 9 p.m. with Maariv at 8 p.m.; Sunday 2 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 8:30 p.m. with Minha/Maariv at 4:30 p.m. The rest of the Shiva will be observed in New York.

Dear Sapiro Family: I was so saddened to learn of your Mom Miriam's death. Though I knew she had been ill, it still came as a shock. Your Mom and I knew each other from way back and reconnected through USDS and Beth Tikvah. I was always happy to see her smiling face and her cheerful nature always shone through. We are so sorry for your loss and are sending so much love, and wishes for comfort. I have many fond memories of Miriam (and Cyril), like when she would pick Beth up from school/camp/other adventures, and would wait to spot Beth in the crowd, waving enthusiastically. And many Shabbat meals shared together at Beth and Aaron's apartments in NYC. I hope you are all able to find comfort during this sad time.

I have fond memories of Mr. and Mrs. Sapiro as I used to babysit Susan for several years (before Beth came along). I also knew them from Beth Tikvah where my family (Bernie and Vera Waldman) were members. Mrs. Sapiro was always a gracious woman. Thank you Susan for your phone call -I appreciate the effort you made to reach out ! Your Mom and I were part of the 1962 tour to Israel which Yeshiva University lead! Most were Americans so we sort of gravitated to one another and the lovely friendship continued by phone and letters ! We caught up a few times in Toronto and once in Halifax !
