Mitzi Harris was a beautiful and funny lady. She hired me at Baycrest many, many years ago which changed my life forever. She was a good friend of my mother's (Rita Weisberg) and loved by all. I wish her family my sincere condolences.

To the family of Mitzi Harris: Due the fact my wife Linda is no longer able to communicate because of her illness I am writing this message on her behalf. I was saddened to see the passing of a wonderful funny human being. Linda and Mitzi worked together at Baycrest many years ago. I got to know Mitzi through Linda. She was very funny and a beautiful lady. Whenever we were in her company we spent the whole time laughing. I can recall when we took a trip with her to Israel she unfortunately was injured by a fall and doing damage to her leg. Even then for her it turned out to be funny because she made a joke and said they were going to have to get her back on the plane by Hydraulic lift which they did. On behalf of Linda and myself I want to send our sincere condolences. May you be comforted by the mourners of Zion & Yerushalayim. May her memory always be for a blessing, and she should rest in peace. Ken & Linda Heller

Thirty years ago we became co-workers in the Human Resources department at Baycrest. Without exception, staff, management, union personnel all held you in the highest esteem. Your insight was respected, your counsel was valued, your opinion valued. And, for those who worked with you each day, you demanded nothing but the best of each of us. I will hold in my heart our countless hours and years of fun and laughter…whether at the office, shopping in Buffalo, at the Bingo hall, in our daily cafeteria lunches at Baycrest or over coffee at Tim’s. Mitzi, you were a exceptional mentor, a great, loyal friend to myself and so many others. Over the years, you became no less than a second mother to me. I will even miss your 1:00 a.m. phone calls to ask me the name of an Assistant Manager who worked in the Physical Plant at Baycrest in 1992. While you may have forgotten the small things on occasion, you will forever remain unforgettable to me.

Over twenty plus years ago I became a part of the Baycrest family because of Mitzi. She was without a doubt so respected and held in the highest esteem. Your advice was always valued and you brought out the best of those that had the honor to work with you. I loved hearing you laugh and the countless times we would spend speaking on the phone. You were just so much fun to be with. Mitzi you were an exceptional woman, a great, loyal friend to myself and so many others. You have forever planted a mark on my heart, I will never forget you. Ian, Helen, Stanley and family, your Mother, without a doubt was simply exceptional. I am so sorry for your great loss. She will be sorely missed.

Mitzala, your impact on my life is profound. You were a mother to me when I needed direction. You were a friend when I needed understanding and love. You were a counsellor when I needed the confidence to manage my role at Baycrest and to prop me up when I was vulnerable. You were my advisor when I became a wife. Your calm demeanour kept me balanced, and your sense of humour provided endless laughter at your kitchen table. Your house was always filled with people who were magnetically drawn to you. Parties; food; belly laughs. So many wonderful memories. Thank you for letting me be your lunch partner at Baycrest. You made it possible to enjoy that disgusting food just because I got to eat it with you. We were closely connected by “butchery” and “huckmessers”. Despite our difference in age, we were evenly matched in our life views, our humour, our mutual respect and our love for one another. ?

Mitzi was the first person I met when I walked into Baycrest looking for work some 38 years ago. I am still there. She had such a beautiful smile and treated people with such respect while still getting the job done. The world has lost a bright light. May her memories be a blessing.
