To Leah, Stacey, Jessica and Melysa, Dennis and I were truly sorry to hear the sad news of Morty’s passing. Dennis remembers all the laughs they had together and of course who can forget about the ongoing competition for the best lawn on York Hill Blvd. May his memory be a blessing to all of you. Let us take comfort in one another after the passing of Morty. But it’s important for us to remember that though we grieve, we also should celebrate his life. I’m having a hard time imagining mine without him in it. He was a brother-in-law in name, but really a brother in our family. I’ve been lucky to know him since I was 21. A SNIPPET of history Morty entered my life when he began dating Leah , my sister. That was all thanks to some matchmaking done by Leah’s friends. I will always remember that first weekend double dating going to Niagara Falls (skyline tower) in his high performance Camaro z/28. For me it was about his car WOW. But for Morty he was stricken by cupids arrow, instant love. Finally arriving back home,getting out of the car he confided in me that he was going to Marry Leah saying I’m going to marry your sister, to which I responded good luck to you. Morty and Leah started spending a lot of time together. I thought he was cool because he had a muscle and an Afro of hair the size of a basketball which of course turned in later years a silky white long hair. Morty became a motorcyclist after having him on the back of my bike. Our friendship flourished over the years and as life takes us in different directions, Morty remained a true friend. Always there when we needed him. Of course, we’ll all miss him. At the beginning of this speech I said I couldn’t imagine my life without him in it. I believe he’ll still be there in some way. He lives on in each of us, with our stories and memories. Let’s remind each other of them. Leah and Morty have been married fifty-five years. For me, the best symbol of their relationship. A true husband to Leah life partner a father to Stacey, Jessica and Melissa all wonderful women and in total a remarkable family. May space be with you forever in our hearts brother. Gone but never forgotten.
