Morty was an integral part of our life in a personal sense and a constant and devoted member of Shaarei Tefillah for many years. His love for Israel and the Jewish People marked the essence of his being. As the neshama of Mordecai ascends to his deserving place in Gang Eden, me his memory be a blessing to all who had the privilege of being his friend. יהי זכרו ברוך

ברוך דיין האמת Hard to believe we spoke barely a week ago. Morty was a supportive friend who eased my transition into Israeli life and is responsible for finding me a job in a clinic he worked in and where I still practice today. יהי זכרו ברוך.

Morty , thank you for decades of friendship. I will miss you a lot . Morty was unique- the most kind, generous , gentle, caring and cultured man I have ever met . His Ahavat Yisroel , the country and the people , were unequalled . Condolences to Arnold and Morty’s other cousins . Condolences to all his friends. May his Neshama have an aliyah.

Although I have not seen Morton for some 20 years, he was a fixture and stalwart supporter of Camp Massad during its years under the Z0C. He was instrumental in bringing the camp back to life, and seeing it through it’s successes in those years. He was a supporter of me as senior staff, and always a trusted and reliable member of the board. הי זכרו ברוך

Baruch Dayan Haemet. Morty was a friend whom we met over 55 years ago at Shaarei Tefillah. We knew him as a gentle but passionate soul, a great lover of music, Israel as well as Jewish culture and learning His presence will be greatly missed.

After a debilitating illness bravely borne, our dear friend Morty is now comfortable & at peace he so richly deserves. Morty, you were a true friend, a gita neshoma and a real mensch. BDE, I was saddened to hear of Morty's death. He was a sweet kind hearted mensch and I was shocked to hear of his passing. Through many years of interactions at shul lectures, bumping into each other on buses there was always interesting and convivial pleasant conversations. Years ago we shared a mutual friend's 50th birthday where we were introduced to single malt scotch. Another special memory was at a popular Israeli professor lecture. Morty had left for home before the post lecture reception and the speaker had eaten a cookie and threw the last part in the trash. Unbeknownst to him at the time, his bridge had come out with it. As a result this erudite gentleman rummaged through the trash bin and upon finding it., a couple of us thought of Morty and we're able to reach him just as he had returned home around 10.30 pm and arrangements were made to bring the speaker to Morty's office and the rest is history. The following evening, we all came to hear the second part of the lecture series with a speaker who could continue thanks to Morty's affixing his bridge where it belonged in the mouth of this wonderful guest speaker. Morty, you will be missed by many. May your family be comforted with all the Mourners of Zion and Yerushalyim and know no more sorrow. Janice Lebow

An interesting and memorable colleague at the UToronto Faculty of Dentistry.

So sorry to read of Morty's passing. Sincere condolences to his extended family. Beyond his intelligence, intellect, delightful sense of humour, and general sense of optimism, he will especially be remembered for his ahavat Yisrael, kindness, and true menschlichkeit. May his neshama be bound up in the bonds of eternal life, and may his memory forever be a blessing.

So sad to hear of my good friend's passing. Morty visited Israel a few times since we have been here and joined our family for a beautiful Shabbos meal. We also spent a few hours in Ramat Eshkol enjoying a coffee outdoors, shmoozing about music, and the great outdoors. There is a wonderful fragrance in the air in Yerushalayim (Maalot Dafna/ Ramat Eshkol) in the rainy season with all of the pine trees here. Morty was the guy who pointed that out to me a number of years ago. There hasn't been a rainy winter season in our neighbourhood that I do not think about him every time I take deep breath of that beautiful fragrance in the air. He was that kind of guy, who noticed many things we often take for granted. Will never forget his cheery, optimistic outlook and wonderful smile, always! May his memory be a blessing for all of us.

Morton was a true gentleman and a colleague who I enjoyed working with. The faculty of dentistry at U of T lost one of its cleverest prothos. I am sorry to find out so late about your passing. Thank you for all that you’ve done for myself and your colleagues and the students.

Many condolences to Mordechai's family. I am only an acquaintance who met him in Toronto, but he impressed me as a wonderful man.
