BAHAR, Nissim Silas – On Sunday, January 12, 2025 at Humber River Hospital, Nissim passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. Beloved husband of the late Cecily Bahar, loving father and father-in-law of Guy Bahar, and Cheryl Bahar and Myles Maher. Dear brother to David (Rachel), Shirley, Elaine (Harvey), and Rochelle (Ron). Cherished grandfather to Russell, Sierra, Rebecca, Julia, Laila, Aryeh, Jadyn, Shay, and Elle. Beloved uncle to his many nieces and nephews and dear friend to everyone who was blessed to know and love him at his beloved Magen David Congregation. Memorial donations may be made to Chai Lifeline 647-430- 5933.

Guy, Cheryl and all the Bahar family....our hearts are with you all. Nissim was a true spark in the world. He had so much knowledge and we had many conversations where he would tell us stories and Information. He truly loved his trips to Israel and he would tell us all about it. He will be missed. Guy, you should have peace in his passing knowing that you took amazing care of your father for so many years and made the quality of his life with this horrible disease bearable for him.

Nissim was a kind soul, family-oriented, committed to his Judaism, a devoted husband, tennis player and fan, a great uncle, amazing teacher and playwright, proud grandfather, great debater, and so much more! I was privileged to have met him when I was blessed to join the Bahar-Snowbell "clan" almost 36 years ago when I married Miriam Snowbell. May Nissim sing and dance with his Habonim friends in shamayim, as well as his wonderful wife, Cecy, A"H! We will all miss him dearly.

Dear Guy and Cheryl and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle nissim meant the world to me. Your mom and dad’s warmth and generosity to me, while growing up had a profound effect on my life. Coming to Canada for Passover and weddings and bar and bat mitzvah were a huge part of my upbringing. I loved playing tennis with uncle nissim, or watching tennis, or hockey. I loved all his stories from India, England and Canada to his working as a teacher which inspired me to teach as well. I will miss uncle nissim but his memory will be with all of us.

I know our dads were very close when they were kids and into their old age I fondly remember the long phone calls they would have together. They would argue endlessly about silly things.
