Norman Lipson

With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of our dear and cherished husband, father, and grandfather, Norman Lipson. Norman was a man of exceptional intellect, kindness, and grace, a true gentleman in every sense of the word. His warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love touched all who knew him.

Norman was a devoted husband to his beloved Rose, a caring father to Paul (Christine) and Diana (Jason), and a doting grandfather to Steffi, Jacob, and Abby. His family was the heart of his life, and his love for them knew no bounds.

He will be deeply missed by his brother David (Brenda), his sisters-in-law Bernice (David), Sandy (Loren), Felicia (Lorne), as well as his nieces and nephews: Adina, Marisa, Ben, Julia, Adin, Luke, Brent and Sarah.

Norman’s kindness and integrity will be his lasting legacy, and he will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Shiva will be observed at :

240 Heath Street West, Toronto in the Main Floor Gathering Room.

Shiva visiting hours will be as follows:

Sunday, after the funeral until 5:30 PM

Monday through Thursday, 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM

Friday 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Evening Services will be held Monday through Thursday at 7:00 PM.

We take comfort in knowing that Norman’s love and the memories we shared with him will remain with us always.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Norman’s passing! He was such a wonderful kind man and a true gentleman! We spent so many amazing times together at Norman and Rose’s house and out at restaurants and shows . He was so intelligent and always had insightful opinions on so many different topics. We send our love from us and , our daughters Joanna and Melissa and our whole family to Rose the most amazing supportive wife and Paul and Dianna and the whole family !

Norm was a wonderful, thoughtful and caring friend. Any success I may have had in my legal career I attribute to Norm’s afternoon and evenings with me in the study hall at Osgoode insisting I go over the legal principles that he already knew so well. Norm was one of the witnesses who signed our marriage certificate. There is a big hole left in our lives by this loss. Our thoughts are with Rose and the family.

Dearest Rose and Family. Shelley and I were devastated to hear of Norman's sudden passing. It feels like just yesterday when we first met you, young newlyweds, at a lawyer's conference in Quebec City nearly 50 years ago. Norman acted as our lawyer when we purchased our cottage, 20 years ago. Shortly after the closing, my daughters and I ran into Norman on Bloor Street and he told us that Restoration Hardware was holding a spectacular sale on Waffle Irons. As it happened we were in the market for one. So we made a beeline for the store and purchased the last waffle maker that made 4 waffles. To this day every time I pull it out, I think of Norman. As it happens, Shelley and I are out of the country but will be returning in mid December. We will reach out to you when we return. May your memories of the mensch that Norman was, provide you with comfort in the coming days.

Dear Lipson Family. I am so very sorry for your loss and send my heartfelt condolences to the Family. It was long ago when I met Norman. I began working for him at Fogler, Rubinoff in the mid-1980s. I was a young legal secretary with experience in the real estate field. This is why we paired together so well. We had a lovely working relationship, because Norman was always respectful, professional and so willing to teach me. To this day, I thank him for taking the time to show me the proper manner in which to express oneself, professional decorum and the importance of attention to detail. His 'lessons' remain with me always. He was considerate, patient and kind, had impeccable taste and a delightful sense of humour. We shared many laughs together every day of our working relationship. The world is indeed a sadder place now, because we've lost one of the last great 'gentlemen' in every sense of the word. He certainly deserved all the joy he received from his growing and beautiful family. I hope you all find comfort in your memories of times shared together. May his memory be an everlasting blessing.
