Dear Freda and family, I am so very sorry to learn of the loss of your daughter. May good memories bring you comfort and may her memory be for a blessing.

There are no words to describe the battle we have watched Paula fight for so many decades. For a time, I thought that cancer chose the wrong person to mess with as she certainly threw everything she had into prolonging the highest quality of life possible. Sadly, even she couldn't win an unwinnable battle. At least now, she can rest and stop fighting. My sincerest condolences to Freda, Sheldon, Susan, Alan and the rest of the family. Her family was paramount to Paula, and she was fortunate to have you all by her side. I am so saddened that COVID limits our ability to grieve together. My deepest heartfelt condolences to the entire Bokser family. I was shocked and sadden to hear of Paula’s passing. Paula was not only a great colleague but friend. I can still remember first meeting Paula in the summer of 1997, she hired me straight out of school, opened doors for a young student with no experience, I am forever grateful for her guidance and mentorship over the years. Rarely in life, when one is lucky enough to come in contact with a True Hero it is usually for but a brief moment in time, I on the other hand got to spend most of my life with a Hero, my cousin Paula. A true hero by definition: A person who is admired, idealized for courage, with many outstanding achievements, and noble qualities, my cousin Paula was a Hero, and more. I could only imagine the daily courage required to face the world and act like nothing was wrong, to go about her day to day routines, face others and educate, share and console only as Paula could do. Always available to lend an ear, offer advise, and give an opinion, sometimes holding back on the grain of salt required to take it with. Paula had achieved many things in life and work, and those who knew her could attest to those achievements. She will leave a lasting impression on all those who knew her, so courageous and so strong, living with cancer and its pain for so many years and yet she embraced each day and kept doing the things she loved to do, and to be with those she loved and cared about. I will truly miss my cousin Paula and the strong bond we had she holds a very special place in my heart... She will be missed by all who knew her, but never be forgotten. I met Paula through her cousin David. From the first day i met her to 40 years later you could tell she was a unique strong woman. With a true zest for life, that nothing would get in her way. Dearest Bokser family. I am so sad to hear of the passing of Paula. I have such strong and wonderful memories of our childhood together. Fun times especially our 2 trips to Europe including our drive in our rented standard car all through Spain and Portugal. Paula was a fierce friend who would stand up for you through thick and through thin. She was unwavering in her love of family and friends. Anyone who knew her was better for it because her determination to overcome whatever adversity that she faxed made her a wonderful role model for all. I am truly sorry that we lost touch but whenever he bumped into each other, it was if no time has passed at all. She will be missed by many and admired by all that knew her.

Dear Freda, Sheldon, Susi, Alan and Paula's beloved nieces, Paula was a wonderful golfing buddy...in fact, she was the guiding inspiration and booking queen behind the Lake Joe foursome and she kept those guys in line. It is hard to imagine the strength and determination it took for Paula to golf 18 holes twice and sometimes three times a weekend... always early morning tee-off times and even with her continual physical challenges and through numerous surgeries and treatments. We admired her courage and her joie de vivre. She lived her life...with joy, with love and with a sense of adventure. With her family at the centre of her life giving her strength, she was warm and generous and a good and loyal friend. She will be in our memories and we will lift a glass to her in celebration of her life on the 19th hole. To you all, her beloved Mother and family, we know this is an enormous loss and send our sincerest condolences and wishing you strength. May her memory be for a blessing. We will continue to be inspired by Paula's fighting spirit, intelligence, the twinkle in her eye and her kindness.

A few years ago Paula and I, as we were both survivors of colon cancer, were asked to speak to graduating surgical oncologists at Princess Margaret Hospital. On that day she spoke beautifully and absolutely captivated the room. She brought our disease to life and made these young superstar surgeons realize that their patients were people just like them who had families, feelings and lives to live. She was ultra professional and yet extremely warm and kind. It was the best education they ever received. It was my utmost honour to speak along side her. She was a real heroine. May she rest in peace and may her memory always be for a blessing.

Bokser family, I'm just devastated and blown away beyond words. Such fond memories of her, she was amazing, a real fighter, a kind spirit, beautiful soul and a real trouper. She will be missed by all and may her spirit be a blessing for you all.

I am truly heartbroken to learn of Paula's passing. She started seeing me as a patient about 20 years ago. When she got sick, we spent much more time talking in the office, and a friendship had developed between us. We shared many personal experiences with each other during those appointments. Those conversations will stay with me and what I want to keep as my memories of her. Paula was one of the most courageous people that I had ever met. She remained positive throughout even when the situation was very bleak. Her strength and unwillingness to give in many years ago was inspirational to all. When she was in the office, it seemed that she had just finished some debilating treatment or was hopeful that the next one was going to make the difference. I am going to miss her very much and I hope that her family can find some strength in knowing what an amazing person that she was throughout her life. I am so sorry for your terrible loss.

She became a part of my family and we had many fun times together. Sadly, as happens so often, over the years we drifted though my husband Chuck did see her from time to time downtown and I was very happy to bump into her in the downtown underground several years ago and we talked as though no time had passed. I was first introduced to Paula through her cousin, Dave, back in the summer of 2013. I didn’t know much about her other than she really enjoyed golf. Something I like as well but saddened to think we didn’t get a chance to play. Knowing what I now know about Paula and her tenacity, grit and her never give-up attitude I probably would have been no match for her anyway. During that summer my mom became ill and for the next few months things became very difficult for me and my family. For those months many friends rallied and were very supportive and it was very much appreciated. One person always stuck out. As months went by things weren’t going well and conversations with Paula became so much more important. The more we talked the more I found out the true character of this lady. She would never tell me all the things she was going through and all her own personal struggles. I learned more about her battles from others. For her, it was always about you and how can I help. For the next 5 months Paula was my rock, my go-to, my champion. I learned more about persistence and courage that at any time in my life. She was able to do that with ease and dignity. Later that year things didn’t turn out the way I had hoped. It was a difficult time for me but Paula was still there with her encouragement, empathy and grace. Dear Arno, I just heard about Mamina. I have no words my friend, other than to tell you, you MUST remind yourself that you were the best son you could have been ….. the tears now are for the loss you are feeling and not for what you didn’t do for your mother – she is at peace my friend .. no more struggles … take some comfort in that my friend. Paula, you are at peace, no more struggles and take comfort in that my friend.

I am saddened to hear of your loss. Paula was a truly amazing soul! She taught me many things while at McMillan but most of all I admired her courage and inner strength. She is a hero in my book. May her memory live forever.

My most heartfelt condolences go out to the entire family. I looked forward to my Florida trips with my kids as Paula was almost always there the same time. Not only did I enjoy my time sitting around the pool with Paula, but my kids always had such a blast with her as well. She spent so much time playing with them. She was the most energetic, lively, intelligent women and she always had a smile on her face. I will miss her dearly. I don’t think we ever had a conversation that didn’t include Paula boasting the joys of being an Aunt. Those kids were her pride and joy and she was by far the most dedicated Aunt. She had the biggest sparkle in her eyes with each story about her girls!! May the wonderful and most precious memories help you all through this difficult time and may her memory be a blessing. I will always strive to be half the Aunt she was and have half the courage, strength, determination and exuberance she possessed. As She was a role model for me too. She was the ultimate in what women should posses. I will miss her dearly. She will always have a special place in my heart.

Dear Freda, Sheldon, Alan and Families: Since hearing of Paula’s passing, I have been flooded with memories of her and the times I spent with her and your family growing up. In fact, whenever I think about my childhood she always comes to mind. She was my first friend in grade 1 and our friendship continued through Junior High, High School, and beyond. Paula was a wonderful and special person and she will be missed. I hope that the memories you have of her help get you through this very difficult time.

Paula you will be missed but never forgotten. You fought a never ending courageous battle with spunk and vigour and in the end your poor body just needed rest. We will always cherish our time we had with you and wished we had more. However our memories are strong and because of that you will stay alive in our hearts. Sometimes like now those memories will make us cry but in time they will turn to smiles. Because I am damn sure you don’t wan us to cry. You would frown on us for that. I learned of Paula's passing with deep sadness. We worked across the hall from one another at McMillan when I first arrived and I cannot count the times she saved me from errors great and small. Her perseverance, dedication and good humor were an example to us all. My sincere condolences to her family.

To the entire Bokser family, I am so saddened to hear about Paula’s passing. We met many years ago in high school and although we were never close friends, we had many friends in common and it was so nice to bump in to her over the years. About a year ago, my friend group and Paula’s bumped in to each other at Tutto Pronto and we started following each other on instagram (she loved my dog’s account especially). We lost our best friend last summer in a tragic accident and she was one of the first people to reach out to me with such supportive and kind words. I was very saddened to hear of Paula's passing. We worked together at McMillan and although we were busy, we always found a few moments to talk about life outside of work. I would say, "Hey, how is my namesake doing?" Paula also shared cute stories about her grandfather. She doted on her family and I could sense the great love she had for them. Rest in peace, Paula.
